Pine Shavings raffle draw! ๐
Congrats to Tereasa Hufstedler on winning the pallet of pine shavings! ๐ฅณ Thank you so much to everyone who bought spots! This was a fun raffle to do. Iโm sure weโll have another one in the future, so keep an eye out! ๐
Free lunging, showing lope & jog
Yesterday Murphy & I went to Claraโs, a really good friend of mine. He did w/t/l, worked on leg pressure, moving each part of his body independently & together with side passing, neck reining, and walked over a tarp. He did so well for riding in an indoor and it was so much fun! Clara rode him around for a bit too. Love working with this sweet gelding! Thanks Clara for letting us come over & for the videos! Murphy will be ready to be rehomed by the end of October!
General desensitizing (October 9th)
Riding in an indoor (October 13th)
Night riding (October 11th)
Murphy is a sensitive horse, but once he trusts you, you get an amazing & willing friend. Heโs so much fun to work with. Heโll be ready for rehoming at the end of this month! Iโll be honest, Iโm gonna be sad to see him go. Whoever he goes to will have a great horse!
Day 1 with the harness & bridle for Shakira, a young mini I have in for training. Sheโs such a sweetheart and is so fun to work with. She did great for todayโs session! So happy with how sheโs coming along. ๐ฉท
Stella had her first ride before she went home today. She did absolutely amazing! So proud of how far sheโs come in 60 days after being a pasture pet for many years. She has gotten to be so much more confident and learned to trust people. She was a challenging horse to work with, but thatโs what makes a great session like this worth it. Such a fun little mare to work with. ๐ Thank you to Clara Graber Horsemanship for coming over to help me with this. It really helped Stellaโs confidence to have someone on the ground with her while I was on her. It was awesome!
Sheโs come a long way from reactive pasture pet to functioning citizen of society. Really happy with how sheโs progressing! Itโs the challenging ones that make training fun. ๐ค
Smooth is fast. I've taken Luna (my Gypsy x paint) back to basics this winter after having a not so good few barrel races towards the end of last season. We've been just trotting and loping the pattern, making sure to finish our turns better. She's definitely come a long way, especially with her second barrel! I'm really excited to see how we'll do this season. #horse #horses #barrelracing #rodeo #horseriding
Desensitization is a very important thing to teach your horse, it builds your horseโs confidence in itself, and builds their confidence in the relationship that you have together.
Plastic bags seem to be the most common and sometimes scariest thing a horse is afraid of and as you can see, Java, my upcoming 3 yr old, is not very scared of plastic bags. ๐
I think sheโd rather try to eat one than spook at it. ๐คฃ
I thought Iโd share this clip because I find it pretty funny. Every horse reacts differently to the same thing shown in front of them, and to Java- she couldnโt care less about this bag!
After show season ends, I like to do lots of driving to keep my performance horse, Luna, in shape throughout the winter. Itโs not only a good workout but a great way for Luna to check out all the different sights and still do what she loves- running!
Last fall I trained her to drive and weโve both loved going for drives ever since.
