The Sturgis/Meade County Animal Shelter serves the city of Sturgis and surrounding Meade County. The shelter provides care for animals that are lost/found, abandoned, and surrendered by their owners. The shelter is owned and managed by the City of Sturgis and operates as a division of the Sturgis Police Department.

REUNITED!

This pretty girl was found on Eastside Drive in Black Hawk. She is chipped, but not registered! If you know who she belongs to please call the Shelter 605-347-8310 . We open. At 9am tomorrow morning.

CHIEF UPDATE!! this little man has gained 10 lbs in a week!! He loves his meals for sure. He is more energetic and now runs! We still have a long road ahead, but we are getting there. Prayers are always welcome.

NEW UPDATE FOR CHIEF! Went and seen Chief today!! Boy is is getting really vocal and he is moved out of his little kennel into a big boy kennel. We walked around the block and just had the best 30 minutes together! We are seeing a HUGE progress. Enjoy his voice and his bark!! his bark is in comments <3

Update #4 Chief is up and walking and eating food. He even went potty outside. Getting better everyday

UPDATE #3 LOOK AT CHIEF!! This is tonight and he is in great spirits!! Keep all the prayers coming!! It is helping.

FOSTER HOME PENDING! Well we took in a baby pig, we named her Peppa. We tried to locate an owner but were unsuccessful. We are now trying to find Peppa her forever home. She has had a ruff start but healing well. If you would like to Foster Peppa that would most likely become yours, please call us at the shelter. 605-347-8310

Guess who is fat and sassy and ready for his forever home? MARMADUKE! Remember the skinny bony mess he was in (see photo)? Well, he came to us on October 19 and look at him today!
