As clearing and removal efforts continue from yesterday’s snow, it’s important to remember the safety of both snowplows and emergency vehicles on the road. When you see these vehicles, give them plenty of space and avoid passing them when possible. Snowplows need extra room to clear the roads, and emergency vehicles are often responding to critical situations.

Please use extra caution today!

If you approach a plow, please be patient and remember that plow drivers work long hours in tough conditions to keep our roads safe.

DON’T CROWD THE PLOW: Snowplows will be out across the state today. Please give them space to do their jobs by staying back at least 200 feet. Use extra caution if you decide to pass – plows often create a cloud of snow that can obscure visibility. Road conditions ahead of plows are likely worse.

If you approach a plow, please be patient and remember that plow drivers work long hours in tough conditions to keep our roads safe.

On this day 23 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights, 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning, 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift, 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol, 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives.

And not one of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.

As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight as you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

An important reminder for all of us, as we safely navigate the increased road construction throughout Racine County and across all of Wisconsin, this time of year! 🚧⚠️⛔️🚧

REMINDER: Barricades are installed in work zones for the safety of construction crews and the traveling public. These "Road Closed to Thru Traffic" signs imply that drivers cannot get from one end to the other end of the project without encountering construction activities and potentially impassable operations.

For vehicles that do not have an origin or destination inside the work zone, follow the detour route. If you live within the project boundaries or are trying to reach a local business, please use the shortest access point available. Please pay attention to road closure signs and barricades and do not attempt to drive around them.
