Little miss Muffin is almost two years old and she's a smaller Shepherd, weighing probably about 40-45 pounds. She's a VERY timid girl who chooses to show her fear by barking which means she doesn't present well and gets looked over. But this sweet girl loves treats and if you are patient enough, she warms up pretty quickly. Today, one of our volunteers met her for the first time and after sitting on the ground and offering treats for a bit, she finally let our volunteer pet her. They sat a little longer and then took her on a walk. She's basically a clean slate (aside from knowing sit, which she does really well especially if there's a treat involved), so she has no leash manners, but that being said, they walked a whole mile and she did really well! We know there's a really good girl in there, she just needs the right human to teach her manners and confidence. At the start of the walk, she was really checking out her surroundings and doing lots of spinning around the walker. By the time they finished, she was watching her new human friend to follow their lead and was walking nicely on one side of them. At this time because of her anxiety and fear, we are recommending a home with no kids and no other pets. We are confident that with the right leader and structure, she is going to be an incredible companion! ‼️BREAKING NEWS FROM THE DNA LAB‼️
We have uncovered a shocking development here at Mit Liebe…

The “Mafia” puppies — Madrina, Clair, and Gotti — have been living a LIE.

They think they are German Shepherds.
They walk like German Shepherds.
They sit like German Shepherds.
They even give you that intense “I need to share your lunch” stare like German Shepherds…

But according to science… They are 0% German Shepherd. ZERO. ZIP. NOTHING. Not even a whiff of GSD.

Are they embarrassed?
Absolutely not.

Do they still carry themselves like majestic, noble, incredibly important working dogs with jobs and pensions and 401ks?

Absolutely yes…. Sometimes, but only after play time.

These puppies are:
✔ Shepherd-shaped in their self-esteem
✔ Shepherd-trained in their dramatic sad dog look
✔ Shepherd-level loyal
✔ Shepherd-level smart
✔ Shepherd-level convinced they can drive your car

But in reality?

They are just very adorable mutt puppies who want snacks and love and maybe one singular couch cushion to claim as their throne.
We still need to get these 3 adopted:

🐾 Madrina – The honor student. Will sit for a treat. Will also sit for no reason at all.

🐾 Clair – The social butterfly. Likes people, dogs, probably interpretive dance.

🐾 Gotti – Slightly larger, slightly goofier, definitely believes he is 75 lbs of pure wolf. He is not. He is a cookie enthusiast with a nub tail.

Foster for Freddy!

What we were told:

Freddy, 3 y/o male, 76 lbs
Transferred in from another AC on 10/20.

Appears housebroken.
Leans into handler for pets.
Very adolescent dog behavior- needs work on manners. Strong but manageable.

Walked fine out of the room until Zeus (another shepherd) in the front row of the room began jumping up and barking loudly. Freddy barked back, pulling STRONG towards kennel, had to use a lot of strength to move him from the room.

Mabel (foster) is 15 weeks old and wondering where her new family is hiding! She is a smart, happy, and social girl who loves people, dogs, and cats. Mabel is playful and affectionate, and loves being the center of attention. She is half GSD and half terrier (one of Scout's girls). Her ears are starting to stand and both go up some days!

Mabel is about 95% housetrained, crate trained, rides well, sleeps through the night, and learns quickly. She passed her AKC STAR Puppy evaluation, and will be at the November Meet and Greet to make sure her new family can find her.

Scout is 3 years old, spayed, and looking for her forever family. She has raised her puppies (and did a fabulous job at it), and made great progress in learning all the things a good dog needs to know. She is the gentlest, sweetest dog and is happy just being near you.

Scout is playful and loves interactive play and walks, but is also happy entertaining herself or just being near you if you are busy. She is housetrained, crate trained, rides quietly in the car, and is a snuggle bug!

Scout loves people of all ages and gets along with other dogs. She is cat selective so a home without cats is best.

Micah is half GSD and half terrier.
