John DiStano began training dogs over twenty years ago, starting out with guard dogs, then moving on to Police K9's and prison dogs. He later met and apprenticed under renown K9 trainer Louise Auger, also from New Jersey, and became one of her top pupils. "She trained all the Police K9's in the area (Bergen County) as well as being the Chief Animal Control Officer. Any dogs that she found (strays

or injured) she would bring back to her kennel and have us (the students) train them. They were much easier to find homes for if they were well mannered and already had some training. I've never seen anyone else do that since she did. It was a great system and her kennel never had dogs living there for too long." John has also worked with numerous animal hospitals in solving behavior problems, as well as having many articles published in dog training magazines. He has testified in court as an expert witness in dog aggression cases as well as appeared on a few radio stations to speak about dog aggression issues as well as attacks on humans. He later moved onto protection training in French Ring Sport and P.S.A. but found problems with them both. He changed his training style to what he calls 'real world training,' making the training more realistic.
