Another day of blue! Including winning a blue saddle pad! Puzzle received scores up to 71.7% with each test this weekend being better than the one before. Isn’t this what we hope for ourselves and our horses? Puzzle just had to show off his black side and his white side for the photos along with posing in the fog this morning.

A great birthday weekend show in central Virginia with Trinity and Puzzle and the support of my mom in her golf cart! Puzzle showed some moments of brilliance especially in his canter work and Trinity secured the 3rd Level High Point on Saturday! Proud of these ponies!

Update from Raleigh Winter Dressage last weekend: Student Rachael on Lola received her last 4th Level score toward her silver medal and Trinity was the highest scoring 3rd Level horse at the show! A great way to kick off this show season!

Can’t recall all the year end awards Trinity and Puzzle received, but let’s just say it was a successful show year that required the use of my “carry as much as you can without taking a second trip” equestrian skills! With our scores at 3rd Level this year Trinity and I technically should have been Reserve Champion for All-Breeds again. But through operator error I received these scores at 3 shows instead of the required 4 (who knew?). So as I was poking around the USDF website to see what went awry I saw I had the required elements for these 4 other awards! But to remain in my error fashion this year I didn’t notice and apply in time to be recognized this year so they will be officially recognized at the close of the 2024 season. Good thing dressage is a journey over many long years!

Another show in the books for Topline Dressage!

Baby Puzzle is continuing to get experience being out at the shows with a range of scores, but when he is good he is great! Scores up to 72.4%!

Student Rachael rode Lola down centerline for her first 4th Level test and received one score toward her Silver Medal!

Student Alyssa qualified for regionals at 2nd Level and at 2nd Level Musical Freestyle!

Thanks to Whispering Miracles for hosting even with this crazy weather that delayed the show for 8 hours on Saturday!

Pictures of Trinity at 3rd Level last month. Even with some bobbles here and there she secured the 3rd Level High Point the first day and scored a few 9s on her half turns on the haunches! Love this mare!

When the schooling show location is changed to your barn and so you fill in last minute to cover some scratches, and you ride a test with the baby horse he’s never done before. And we still managed to score a 74.4% and 71.9%! Love this horse!

Raleigh Winter Dressage turned out to be a hot one both in temperature and scores! Trinity finished out the show with two qualifying scores and blue ribbons at 3rd Level. And Puzzle earned himself a 70% at 1st Level! A great way to kick off the show season!

First day of the first show under wraps! Trinity made her 3rd Level debut and baby Puzzle got to show his colors at his first ever recognized show!

With the first tests having some tension and lookiness as the ponies acclimated to the show environment, the rides and scores greatly improved in the second rides with Trinity receiving her first qualifying score at 3rd Level! And baby Puzzle is growing up (with some occasional baby brain 🙃)!

We are all excited for tomorrow!

Congratulations to student for her debut down centerline!! They raked in an impressive 69% for her first dressage test ever! I couldn’t be prouder of her and my mare Lola! Also pictured is the peanut gallery pair cheering from the sidelines awaiting their own ride times. 😂

Baby Puzzle went down centerline again this year with scores ranging from 69% to 74%. I am loving the horse he is becoming! 🤩

Trinity is really coming along at 3rd Level! The judges’ comments have all been very positive and affirming. This horse has been such fun to ride and develop!

Topline Dressage students and horses had a successful weekend at the very first Whispering Miracles recognized show!

Laura Gladden rode Trinity van Dream Gait owned by Mary Larsen to get both her First and Second Level scores toward her bronze medal.

Rachael Moran Kidd rode her OTTB Raynham to get her First Level scores and our very own Romance LBA to get her Second Level scores toward her bronze.

For Laura and Rachael this was their very first recognized dressage show and they both made it 2/3 of the way toward their bronze medals! Truly impressive!

Topline’s Romance LBA also took another student down centerline for her Second Level debut giving her more show experience and confidence to really excel at this level in upcoming shows.

Pictures are few as the tests were all clumped together in the heat of the day. I am thankful for the camaraderie of everyone involved and the others who came out to help us with all the show busyness.

And we went out with a literal bang as a tire blew out on the way home. No one was injured and I’m grateful for the help provided by the state troopers and VDOT. The horses got a nice graze and we were blessed with a beautiful sunset to pass the time while stranded.

All in all a great weekend!
