We’ve been blown away by the overwhelming support we’ve received in light of our HVAC challenges.!

We’ve received many many wonderfully perfect blankets to keep the dogs warm and cozy. We’ve worked with several news outlets to help share what’s happening here at the shelter. So so many HVAC companies have reached out to us to offer support.

And, most importantly: TWELVE DOGS HAVE GONE INTO FOSTER! These dogs heading into foster reduces the load on our team as we navigate around those massive space heaters!

THANK YOU to our community for your extraordinary support!

(Fifi is pictured as she’s picking out some toys before she heads to foster. We’re excited to report back on her mini vacation!)

💔 "Defeated and hiding in the corner, Patience has given up hope. Her trembling body and vacant stare are cries for help. Will you be her hero and save her life?"

The image captures a heart-wrenching moment of Patience, a 2-3-year-old dog, curled up tightly in a corner of her kennel. Her head is pressed against the cold, worn-out wall as if trying to make herself invisible. She wears a red collar, but her posture screams despair and fear. The room is bleak, with peeling paint and a bare floor, while a stained cot sits unused beside her. The distant, empty space adds to the sense of abandonment, making her isolation even more palpable.

PLEASE READ—DON’T SCROLL!!

Ice has been waiting for over 533 days. She came to us in 2023, and now we’re heading into 2025—another year, still overlooked, still waiting.

Ice is a 3-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Bull Terrier mix, and she’s everything you could want in a companion. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is completely FREE thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation Empty the Shelters National Adoption Event—you’ll only need to pay an $8 city license fee, if applicable.

Ice has been overlooked for far too long. How has no one taken the time to meet this sweet, smart, and loving girl? We know she’s perfect, and we know the right person is out there for her. But her wait has gone on long enough.

Don’t let Ice spend all of 2025 in the shelter. She’s ready. She’s waiting. And she deserves a chance.

Thank you to SRC of Lexington for sponsoring today’s Pet Pal!

Have you ever encountered a more charming face? Meet Bruno, a handsome old dog who was brought to the shelter as a stray. He is an exceedingly affectionate dog. As a result of his age, Bruno has no upper teeth, but he copes remarkably well with his worn bottom teeth. Bruno has an abundance of love to offer and merely requires an opportunity to share it. Can you imagine him lounging with you on the couch, watching Christmas movies? Please visit Bruno at the shelter today.
