Never be at a loss trying to come up with a trick to teach your dog. I have a list of over 100 tricks you can choose from that I have had success teaching my dogs and students' dogs. Trick training is fun for the dog and the owner. Tricks are behaviors that are designed to entertain others. Trick dog ranges from very simple novice tricks such as teaching your dog to get in a box on cue to more complex tricks that are several behaviors chained together in one exciting sequence.

Every year the AKC holds a Virtual Trick Dog Competition. Could your dog be the top in its breed to achieve the honor of a National Trick Dog?

Trick Dog course starts with a phone call consolation to create a list of tricks you would like to teach your dog. During the consolation we will get your dog AKC registered. Class will be geared towards earning your AKC Trick Dog titles (Novice- Elite Performer). Title ribbons are awarded after completion of each level.

JJ is Blake’s dog (that super amazing guy who built the Agility Field, always helps build new agility course and does the maintenance of the turf). Yesterday JJ was standing playing with Blaze and must have twisted funny on his hind leg. He yelped, tried limping a few feet until he collapsed. Today at the vet we learned he’ll need ACL surgery.

This course is the most desired above all other courses. We are starting with "basic obedience" and rising to the "Greatest Family Dog Ever!" This course will have TEN 30-minute lessons. Along with Bonus Learning and a Workbook. Inside the Workbook will have key points about each learning game and space for you to write down notes about how your dog learns each game.

1) Dogs have "off days" and if your dog is having an off day, I won't count it as one of our lessons. I want to see all of my students succeed more than anything. If you come to class and the dog isn't really enthustic about training that day and no progress is being made, that day is free! Next time you come we will repeat the same lesson, and it'll count as a "lesson day."
2) Scheduling with me is super easy and convent for YOU! Training is done at my training field which is located by my house making it extremely easy for me to be flexible in scheduling classes. Can't commit to the same day every week or don't know what your schedule might be? I understand that and my students always have the availability to send me a quick text and we rearrange classes.

After this course your dog will be prepared for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing along with Advanced Canine Good Citizen and Urban Canine Good Citizen. My favorite part of The Greatest Family Dog course is that we go at the dog’s pace. This is how training should be. When the dog shows clarity and confidence in all the new games then we progress our training.

My most asked question is, “What if my dog already knows a behavior?” That is awesome!! We don’t need to spend much time on it if the dog shows clear understanding of what you are asking. There will be other games that take more time, whether it’s your mechanics or helping the dog see the picture better.

🩷 Let’s meet the owner of Desirable Dog Training: Kristin Jensen, AKC CGC Evaluator, Trick Dog Evaluator, FIT Dog Instructor and life long learner 🩷

At the age of 7, Kristin got her first dog, Ghost. At age 8, Kristin and Ghost started in 4H obedience where later on they would go on to win Grand Champion. After many years and advancing through all the obedience levels 4H had to offer, Kristin wondered what else she could do with her dog. She became curious about different ways of training and learned about positive reinforcement. Kristin and Ghost began their journey into the AKC world and discovered Rally and Agility.

After Ghost retired from show life, Zeus came into the picture. What worked for Ghost was set to be tested with Zeus. Zeus became a pivotal point in Kristin’s training. She became extremely curious about dog training, agility, and dog behavior. Kristin got the opportunity to learn from and be coached by Susan Garrett, leading online dog trainer of positive reinforcement.

With the saying, “You can learn something from everyone but you can’t learn everything from one person,” Kristin’s curiosity continued to grow. The thrill of deep diving into a dog training aspect or handling technique in agility is exciting for her. Kristin has gone to Pennsylvania and learned from multi-gold medalist in agility, Jessica Ajoux, Perry DeWitt, and Emily Klarman. Kristin has personally learned from OneMind Dog’s leading coaches Tuulia Liuhto and Timo Liuhto. Kristin says, “Learning in person from Tuulia and Timo are game changers. Tuulia, Timo, Emily, Perry, and Jessica all have an eye for specific detail. I was very fortunate to learn from them and gain experience having the ‘eye for detail’.”

Kristin has a passion for training dogs and understanding their behavior. She is creative in problem solving and deeply enjoys finding solutions for both dogs and humans. She is compassionate and empathetic and works hard to make sure both dog and human are enjoying their learning and training experience.

Kristin and her husband, Blake, single-handedly created the training field. "I am extremely excited to bring positive reinforcement to southeast Idaho as well as the finest agility field in Idaho. In creating the agility field, dog's safety was the number one concern. Leveled field with rubber infill artificial turf creating the cushion for dog's joints as they run full out and jump. All equipment is the top of the line, competition grade, with contacts having cushion inside them. I am really seeing my dream come to life with Desirable Dog Training thanks to my husband and all his hard work building it."

Rally is a fun sport that has two parts: teaching a really good heel and trick training! There are signs that act as a "trick" you must complete before moving onto the next sign.

Rally is held every Saturday at 3pm beginning late March- October. Rally is pay per class ($50). The first part of class you learn what the signs mean and how to perform them. Second part of class is the coursework part.
​
What AKC says about Rally:
What it is: A team sport where a dog and handler work together to navigate a course of 10-20signs.
What to do: The signs instruct the dog and handler on the next skill to perform, such as turn, sit, down, stay, etc.
What to focus on: Teamwork, control, and accuracy are more important than speed,
Who can participate: All dogs are welcome, including mixed breeds.

2024 was a great year for dog classes. The new training field really brought my dreams to life. Massive thank you and shout to my amazing, hardworking husband who built the training field ❤️👏🏼🫶🏼 every weekend we would work on building the field. I am so excited for next years classes!!! When I got Blaze I looked into places I could take him for a puppy class and the closest place was a 2 hour drive. With Blaze I knew I could teach him the skills a class would teach us and I would settle with taking him to dog shows with me for the socal aspect we lost by not doing a class. That showed me that there is a need for a puppy class. One of my amazing students said, “Why don’t you build a puppy course for others?” So I did something….

I’m excited to announce that next year Puppy Palooza! will be added to my courses. I get so excited designing this course!! This is some of my best work! 6 lessons and EIGHT AKC title opportunities 🤯😱 all of the training will be 100% positive reinforcement. All of the learning is FUN for the dog and for the handler! You can’t find this anywhere near Rexburg/ Idaho Falls area. I believe puppies should be happy while learning. They are too young to really understand what we want plus we need to teach them. Blaze is the superstar who helped me design this for puppies.

My archived class, Foundations 1 (did you read that right 😱 spoiler something way better is coming!!), taught me about real questions puppy owners have and what owners were looking for when they started with a puppy. You have a new puppy… what do you do? Where do you start? I got you 😉 Puppy Palooza! was designed for you and help build a confident puppy.
