Had a very educational lunch and learn hosted by Dr. C on how to perform a cystocentesis!

Cystos are performed when the doctors need a sterile sample of urine to send out for lab testing or in house urinalysis’. This helps us get the most accurate sample for your pet without risk of contamination like a “free catch” offers.
We practiced on our own pets and don’t worry, they got lots of spray cheese as an appreciation for their services 😅♥️

We bought 60 of these Cadbury eggs for the staff a week ago, and this is what’s left. Easy to say, they’re a favorite around here 😅they also can be a pets fan favorite, however, chocolate is toxic to pets.

🍫 With Easter coming up, be mindful of wet noses sniffing around Easter candy! Chocolate can cause secondary pancreatitis, which can not only be extremely painful, but at times fatal if untreated 🍫

💦 It’s getting hot out there! 💦 be sure to watch out for signs of heat stroke in your dogs! This can look like: heavy panting, extremely red/injected gums, hyper salivating, stumbling, or collapse 🥵 if this does happen, please rush your pets in immediate. DO NOT dunk them in cold water. Cool air from a fan or AC with a damp towel are recommended to help start the cool down process.

These odd looking things here that Dr. Pina removed from a patient’s bladder today are called bladder stones! Although a lot of factors can cause this condition such as genetics, urine PH, etc. once stones are removed, this condition can be managed through water intake and proper urinary diets!
