Alert dear followers! We have taken in the cutest boy and he’s ready to find his foster or forever home!

Joe is a very happy 1 yo boy and he gets along with everybody. He really likes to play and run around with other furry friends and would do best with a yard or somewhat active family. We really don’t know how he is with young kids or cats, but he seems to be the sweetest boy. And he seems to be house trained.

If interested in Joe, please complete an application on our website; cockerkids.org

📣 CALENDAR ORDER UPDATE

A quick update on the 2026 CockerKids Calendars: shipping was scheduled for the end of October, but the calendars arrived later than expected, causing a slight delay.

Please also keep in mind that this entire project is handled by one volunteer, from running the photo contest, to designing the calendar, taking the orders, and preparing each package for mailing.

All calendars will arrive in time for the holidays and well before the new year. Thank you for your patience and for supporting CSRET 🐾💛

Marley is back on the market, but not because of any fault of this boy! He’s a wonderful, sweet and loving 4 yo guy just looking for his forever home.
He’d love another pup he can play with and we think he’d be good with older kids, too. He really needs a nice, big yard and would do well with a family that is active.

Rooney is still looking for a foster home!
This sweet 3-year-old Cockapoo mix is stuck in boarding right now and really needs a place to call home.

He’s 10 lbs of pure love and fun, loves to play, go for walks, and be near his people. Rooney would do great with another furry friend and promises to bring joy and snuggles to whoever opens their home to him.

Please help us get this little guy out of boarding and into a loving foster (or forever!) home.

Rooney is still looking for a foster home or foster to adopt.

Hi guys, my name is Rooney and I am pure fun and love, wrapped up in 10 lbs!
I love to play, walk and be with humans.
Unfortunately, right now, I’m in boarding and need to get outa here so I can cuddle and run free.

Rooney is just the cutest Cockapoo mix ever and he is the perfect age at 3.
He’s a very sweet boy and he would love a foster or forever home. He’d also really enjoy a furry friend to run around with and get into mischief.

Please help get him out of boarding and into a home where he can be a pup.
If interested, complete an application on our website; cockerkids.org.

Our Story

In 1988 Sharon Elliott, a Cocker Spaniel enthusiast, was called on to assist in a raid of a backyard breeder. Sharon, horrified by what she saw, became determined to assist Cocker Spaniels who were abandoned and helpless.

The operation started small with two volunteers placing a dozen dogs a year. Within ten years this noble effort attracted a core of volunteers who re-homed a hundred plus dogs a year. In the late 1990's Cocker Spaniel Rescue established an internet presence with a website, www.cockerkids.org. While the website helped recruit volunteers and donations, the number of Cocker Spaniels in need increased dramatically. Now we have a presence on FaceBook and we are reaching even more Cocker Spaniel lovers.

Today CSR serves the greater Houston area with foster homes stretching from Conroe south to Lake Jackson, west to Katy and as far east to Deer Park. Our primary service area is around 5,600 square miles with a population of 5.7 million people. We serve an area bigger than three individual states (Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Delaware). Thirty states that have populations smaller than the greater Houston area. In 2009 we were contacted about 633 Cocker Spaniels in need of help and we adopted out an all-time high of 300. In 2009, we were awarded the Pedigree Breed Rescue of the Year at the Westminster Dog Show.

Dedicated volunteers are the heart of Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas. Currently we have about 50 volunteers and 30 foster homes. We are an all volunteer organization (no paid employees) and do not operate a facility. We refer to the Cocker Inn® as a virtual home, representing our network of foster homes and boarding kennels. About 80% of the dogs are in foster homes. The remaining 20% are boarded at several kennels across the greater Houston area. We would love to have foster homes for all the dogs but being boarded in a kennel is better than being on death row. We extend our thanks to those of you who "volunteer" money. Your donations enable us to provide veterinary care and board dogs when foster homes can't be found.
