Remember this when training your dogs. Always train at their pace and not what you want.

Everyone always speculates in discussions about how long or how old a dog should be to certsin levels depending on the dog. So I asked UKC for the information and thought I would share. I was surprised by some more than others. Looking at the AKC info on Retriever Results web page shows I believe most of the corresponding levels to a little later age on average.

Fantastic day at the Middle TN Amateur Retriever Club hunt test! Silas picks up his first Master pass. Huge thanks goes out to the club, members, judges, and bird boys who overcame the test grounds getting flooded the night before the test.

GCHB Next Generation’s Ironwoods Walnut MH QA2 X Barren River’s Slippery When Wet

We are super excited to announce our first breeding in 2 years. Wally really needs no introduction in the chessie world. He has excelled in all venues, from shows to hunt test and field trials. Jovi was going to start her hunt test this spring but that is being postponed for this litter. She is major pointed in the show ring and will finish her title after whelping. Both have all recommended health clearances and no pups will be affected by DM, PRA, or EIC. Please PM with any questions.

We have got Jovi’s OFA results back and she has good hips and normal elbows to go along with DM/PRA/EIC clear. We will be breeding her when she goes in heat. If you are interested in getting a puppy reserved, please reach out and we would love to discuss it. This will be our 1st litter in a couple years so we are extremely excited.

What a fantastic 2023 has been. In hunt test Maci got her Master title and Silas got his Senior title . In the show ring, Silas got GCH points ,Jovi got her first major by going breed over specials and Dixie got to show one last time. We got some big plans for 2024 including our first Chessie litter in 2 years and our first lab litter. Hope you all have a safe and happy New Year.

Great day at the East TN Retriever Club hunt test. Silas ran a nice test to earn his Senior Title. Thank you to the judges, club member, land owners, and bird techs for a great test. Now on the Master.

Fantastic weekend at the Middle TN Amateur Retriever Club hunt test. Maci goes 2-2 in Master and has her MH title. She also has 3 passes for next years Master National. Silas also passes his senior test leaving him only 1 pass away to title. Huge thanks to the club, members, workers, and judges for a weekend of test.

Silas goes Select today in Owensboro for a major and CH defeat towards his Grand. Yesterday he went Best Of Breed in Hunting Dog Sweeps. Jovi goes Reserve Bitch today. Congratulations to all the winners.

Usually when I post about my dogs it is about ribbons, hunt test passes, and show points. Well today is a little different. Today we had the pleasure of going to the American Chesapeake Club Supported Show in Owensboro. We had 3 dogs entered but today my focus was on my Dixie. Dixie has long been retired since receiving her Grand Champion but with it being a supported show there was a Veterans Class. It was great seeing Dixie back in the ring with her best friend Lindsay. She is now almost 12 and definitely slowing down but I’m grateful for the time I’ve had with her and blessed for every day I still get with her. Thanks to Lindsay Vest for always bringing out the best in her and to Brian Newman for putting on a fantastic Supported Show. Congratulations to all the winners. Dixie did go Best Opposite Veteran today.

Introducing our newest addition from our CH Deacon MH X Dusty JH litter. This is Barren River’s Slippery When Wet call name Jovi. She is already proving to be a little fireball. Thanks goes out to Deacon’s owner, Derrick March, for allowing me to use him to bred Dusty. Excited to see what the future holds for this little girl.

Pups are 8 weeks and will be going home. We have 1 female available due to buyer deciding to wait till a future litter. She is available to an active companion/hunting home. She loves her birds! Here is a video of one of the pups. This litter has been great. I’ve been impressed with everything they have done. Can’t wait to see what they can do in the future. This was this pups first exposure to live birds.

The milk bar is getting crowded!

Cooper, out of our GCH Jesse SH X Dusty JH litter, stretching out his marks to 80 yards. He will be 13 weeks tomorrow.

Fantastic weather for training today. Been working a nice year old yellow lab. Today was his first triple. Distances were 130, 140, and 150 down the middle. Don’t worry, the chessies all got their turn also.

Pups go home this weekend. Will make great companions and hunting dogs. 2 very birdie males available. Parents are health tested and hunt test titled. PM with questions.

Got a couple Thunder Launchers for training. Here is Winston with about a 110 yard retrieve. He is 6 months and getting ready for force fetch. I think he will be a good one. Yes he is a lab.

Pups are 2 weeks old. Eyes and ears are open. They are getting their legs under them and being vocal. I have 1 female available. PM with any questions.

6 1/2 week old pup’s first time on quail. All did great. Love seeing their natural retrieve drive kick in.

This is Barren River’s Something In The Water “Carrie” (Buddy X Dixie) just coming out of force fetch. She will be starting her hunt test and show career this fall.
