Most llamas we shear are just guard llamas getting their summer cut. Today we got to get these fancy kids ready for a show and sale.

It's probably time to announce on this page that we have added a new little shearer to the family. She was born early March and is a happy healthy little girl. We will resume this shearing season as normal, but please have a little extra patience with us this year as it may take longer to respond to messages and complete our routes with a little one in tow.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 27, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Commodity Credit Corporation today announced Marketing Assistance Loan rates for 2024-crop graded wool by micron class. Loan rates for ungraded wool and mohair are unchanged and remained the same from the prior crop year.

Whether it’s hot, cold, humid or dry, wool is one of the most breathable fibres to wear. Wool can absorb and release twice as much moisture vapour as cotton and thirty times as much as polyester. ✅📈

When wearing fine wool next to the skin, wool works as a dynamic buffer in the micro-climate between the fabric and the skin, regulating humidity and temperature. Thanks to its hygroscopic abilities, wool constantly reacts to changes in body temperature, maintaining its wearer’s thermophysical comfort in both cold and warm weather.

While the exterior layer of a wool fibre is hydrophobic (water-resistant), its inner layer, its cortex, is hydrophilic (water-loving). The cortex can absorb about 1/3 of its weight in moisture without feeling damp. 🤍🐑

Another 17 farms with happy animals checked off the list this weekend. Thankful for our great clients keeping us going and my awesome family who dedicates so much time to shear Bliss. We did over 200 sheep, 8 camelids, and a handful of angoras. It wouldn't have been possible without our great family crew. Photo credit to a few of our farmers and Kylie.

Sister team today! Finally got Kylie on a stand for a big flock and she did a great job. It was super awesome to have a crew of two women shearers and sisters to boot! We did over 50 sheep, 8 alpacas, 10 goats, and 2 pigs today across multiple farms. Thanks again to all of our fantastic clients for their support! I also tested the stitches out and I'm officially back to work! They survived a full day!
