Let me introduce you to Radar..he is an absolutely handsome donkey. Gelded, up to date, friendly, 10 years old and he will be looking for a new address. I cannot tell you he is a good protector because he has lived alone since he was 4 months old. He has neighbor goats. Radar is not halter broke but he has been trimmed a few times with light sedation. Again, he does love people. He was only trailered once to the place he lives now but will likely get on nicely with some food. There is no big rush as his person loves him but at 85 years young, she knows this needs doing. Did I mention he is handsome. Interested, please let me know.

Sometimes I think I have seen it all, then this happens. I noticed the newly dumped kitty ate funny...and yesterday I saw this and thought cleft pallet. Wrong. The vet said this is called rodent mouth and is usually caused by allergies, mostly flea. Blow my mind. She was loaded in fleas, she has skin uckies like you wouldn't believe and, she is probably pregnant. Till Monday. She is going to be examined, spayed and medically taken care of. She will be put up for adoption and if in the end no one wants her, she will just stay here. She kinda likes the groceries. My question now is, where do the teeth go?

After a long night and day of suffering, struggling to rise and countless people looking at him, he has passed. Thank God. Not even the decency to have let a vet gently euthanize him even though it would cost them nothing. The saddest part of all is that we put this on the shoulders of police officers who don't know any better. Horses don't get skinny cause they get old, they get skinny cause they don't get fed. When people lose their teeth, we don't feed them corn on the cob, we give them creamed corn. This horse didn't die of old age even though he was 32, he died of starvation plain and simple and it's still not ok.

Another load in and up along with some cold weather, fat horse grass hay. I am beat and here it is dark thirty. Now to document my paid job. I am done volunteering for the day.

This is NOT OK. Age is not an excuse. The first photo is today, the other two are April and May. And to be told that the vet says this horse is in ok shape for its age. I am screaming angry and you should be too. This horse is located in Ringgold on Davis Ridge Rd. Numerous reports had the owner putting out a sign to not feed the horse because it might bite. For God's sake if you can't properly take care of this horse because of its age, humanely euthanize it. Old is not an excuse for starvation. None of my 17 over 27 year old horses look like this because they are fed accordingly. That we accept this is wrong, wrong, wrong.
