New foster babies are home! This 4 pack of adorable tabbies are from our local shelter Dorchester Paws. They got their nails cut, baths and are now taking their first nap. We'll have them about 3 weeks as they grow big enough for their speuters and then they'll be ready for adoption! 🥰

It's kitten season which means all the shelters are overflowing with kittens. Please don't bring babies who don't even have their eyes open to the shelter. They need to stay with mama cat.

Pause Before You Kitten-Nap! 🐱🚫

We know how hard it is to see tiny kittens all alone—your first instinct might be to scoop them up and bring them to safety. But during kitten season, taking baby kittens away from their mom (a.k.a. “kitten-napping”) can actually do more harm than good.

✅Why it matters:
Most of the time, mom is nearby, searching for food or hiding while you’re watching. And no matter how loving we are, no one can care for kittens better than mom.
This season, we’re overflowing with litters. Neonatal kittens (0-4 weeks old) require round-the-clock care, bottle feeding every few hours, and kitten milk replacer (KMR). This requires a lot of resources between staff, fosters, and supplies— who may have a mom ready to care for them. 🐾

So what should you do?
-Observe from a distance—mom might just be out for a quick break.
-If the kittens seem clean, warm, and well-fed, leave them be for now.
-If you're not sure, we're here as your resource.
