Got the kiddos out for some photos to give their mamas a little break. We've currently got 3 foxes, a black, a black otter runt, and two younger brokens (broken tort and broken black). Most of these turn 3 weeks old tomorrow.

We had an unexpected move back to Jacksonville recently. Luckily, the rabbits fared well. We've currently got 9 babies in the nest boxes - keep an eye out for photos later this week!

Here's Flora's June Bug. She's 5 months and 7 days old today - I've got photos of her mother at 7 months. So far, it's looking like we succeeded in adding bone and shortening the body - but at the cost of HEC, mass, and HQ.😅 We'll wait and see how she fares next to her mother in a couple of months.

This girl will hopefully be a first time mama in a couple of weeks. She broke out of her play pen yesterday and proceeded to elude capture all day. We finally found her hopping our way just in time for dinner. 🤦‍♀️

This little doe is out of a complete outcross - my goal being to add some of the buck's bone to the doe's line. She's 4 months old now but changing almost daily - we'll have to wait and see how she turns out before making any decisions regarding what to work on first.

Who do you think she takes after - mom or dad? Can you tell who the more line-bred parent is?

One of the best things about this hobby is the friendships you make along the way. There are special people out there who share unconditionally, commiserate over losses, and celebrate your triumphs.

One of them lives in the West coast, Enchanted Garden Rabbitry . In passing, I mentioned how I was looking to shorten up the bodies in my herd. She goes “Say no more” and proceeds to send me this sassy, little spitfire doe. Mozarella Stick has been crushing it as a first time mama. Looking forward to the day I can return the love with one of my own homegrowns!

Someone is official granded today!!!!!

It’s been a very amazing but sad day, as we also received bears registration form. On the bright side sandy is due in FIVE days!!!! So excited to see what he left behind for us. 😊

Baby bunnies are born naked and with their eyes closed. Their fur starts growing on day 1 while their eyes open on days 10-12.

The kits on the blanket below are 2 days old, compared to the 12 day old trio in the nest box. If you look closely, you can see the black kit's open eye.

Another of the grow-outs headed for show! She and her sister are inseparable. Georgie has more type than her sister, so I suspect she'll beat her out on the show tables.

We're finally headed to a show with some grow outs! This guy is a complete outcross and one of my first attempts at adding chest width to my main line. He's a Cedar x Topsie baby, 3M 6D old today.

It always amazes me to see how similar the broken pattern is between siblings, such as the two sisters pictured below.

It just goes to show that there’s a lot more to the broken pattern than the En gene randomly removing pigment throughout the body.

There must be some sort of inherited gene regulatory system directing the presence or absence of this pigment- leading to siblings with only slight variations in pattern.
