While we enjoy BBQs, fireworks, and festive fun, this holiday can pose serious risks for dogs. Foods like fatty meats, table scraps, and even certain condiments can lead to pancreatitis—a painful and potentially serious condition.

🐾 Here are a few quick tips to keep your dog safe this 4th of July:

🚫 Avoid Table Scraps – Rich, fatty foods can upset your pup’s stomach. Remind your guests not to share their plates with your dog.

🏡 Create a Safe Haven – Fireworks can be scary! Set up a quiet, cozy spot indoors where your dog can feel secure.

🩺 Know the Signs – Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and abdominal pain could be signs of pancreatitis. If you notice these symptoms, contact your vet immediately.

Let’s make this holiday fun and safe for everyone—including our four-legged friends! ❤️🐶

This sweet girl found herself in a bit of a tight situation after getting her head stuck in a tire rim. (We’re pretty sure she was just trying on a new kind of restraint collar…) Thankfully, with a little sedation and a lot of teamwork, we were able to safely and gently pop her out — no harm done!

Daisy is doing great and is back to being her happy, tail-wagging self. Huge thanks to her wonderful family for trusting us and allowing us to share her story (and her modeling debut).

🐾 Just another day at Sumner Veterinary Hospital — where no situation is too tire-ing to handle. 😉

🩻 Why Diagnostics Matter! 🩻

Sometimes what seems like a simple urinary tract infection can be something much more serious. These large bladder stones were discovered through diagnostic imaging (X-ray) and removed in surgery today!

⚠️ Blood in the urine is a red flag, and without imaging, conditions like this could be missed.
🪨 The quarter in this photo is included for size comparison—can you imagine trying to pass these? Ouch!

This is a powerful reminder of why initial diagnostics like X-rays are so important. They help us get the full picture and treat your pet safely and effectively from the start.

If your pet is showing any unusual symptoms, don’t wait—give us a call. Early diagnostics can make all the difference.

🎆 Now is the Time to Start Thinking About the 4th of July! 🎆

Fireworks, parties, and summer celebrations are fun for us—but they can be stressful and even dangerous for our pets.

Planning ahead can make all the difference. Whether it’s updating ID tags, talking to your vet about calming options, or setting up a quiet space at home, a little preparation goes a long way.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe and comfortable this Independence Day!

Future Leaders in Action! 🐾🌿

Today, Dr. Larson had the privilege of hosting the Mt. Si FFA State Champion Veterinary Science Team at Sumner Veterinary Hospital! These exceptional students are preparing to represent Washington at the National FFA Convention & Expo, where the next generation of agricultural leaders gather to grow, connect, and make an impact.

Through their FFA journey, these students have already demonstrated outstanding leadership, responsibility, and dedication—skills they continue to build through hands-on experience in veterinary science. We are proud to support their path and cheer them on as they take the national stage!

Today we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

As we come together with loved ones, let's remember to keep our pets safe by following a few simple precautions:

• No table scraps
• Supervise them around bodies of water
• Avoid fireworks
• Ensure they have a collar and are tagged

Wishing everyone a safe Memorial Day! 💙❤️
