Sumter Animal Control

Sumter Animal Control The Animal Control Unit’s primary role is to proactively limit the number of stray animals running at large in the City of Sumter.

This page is managed by volunteers to post found pets and network for adoption/rescue. We do not handle complaints or get involved with issues that need to be addressed by law enforcement. If you need to talk to Animal Control to file an animal complaint, report an animal, or require assistance otherwise, please call the shelter at 436-2066. If you have an animal emergency outside of normal business hours, contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.

Give a pit a chance!
The most euthanized breed 😢 Please Spay and Neuter!!

#1. Pit Bull Terrier
Pit Bull Terriers are one of the most euthanized dog breeds in shelters across the country. They often face discrimination due to their reputation which can make it difficult for them to find forever homes. However, most Pit Bulls are loving and loyal companions who simply need the right environment to thrive.
