Sumter Animal Control The Animal Control Unit’s primary role is to proactively limit the number of stray animals running at large in the City of Sumter.

This page is managed by volunteers to post found pets and network for adoption/rescue. We do not handle complaints or get involved with issues that need to be addressed by law enforcement. If you need to talk to Animal Control to file an animal complaint, report an animal, or require assistance otherwise, please call the shelter at 436-2066. If you have an animal emergency outside of normal business hours, contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.

Meet Finley! Finley is a precious 29-pound gal who is looking for a loving family to call her own. She came to the shelter as a stray and has quickly stolen everyone’s hearts. Finley is about 3–4 years old, friendly with other dogs, and enjoys taking long walks. This beautiful girl was picked up as a stray and soon after arriving at the shelter, we discovered she was pregnant. Diamond delivered her puppies and proved to be a wonderful, loving mom.
