Sumter Animal Control The Animal Control Unit’s primary role is to proactively limit the number of stray animals running at large in the City of Sumter.

This page is managed by volunteers to post found pets and network for adoption/rescue. We do not handle complaints or get involved with issues that need to be addressed by law enforcement. If you need to talk to Animal Control to file an animal complaint, report an animal, or require assistance otherwise, please call the shelter at 436-2066. If you have an animal emergency outside of normal business hours, contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Department.

Look for Saving Sumter's Strays!

The Sumter Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Evening Optimist Club, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. The theme for this year's parade is "A Candy Cane Christmas."
The parade will begin at the corner of North Main and Dubose streets and proceed south on Main Street to Calhoun Street, then east on Calhoun to Harvin Street, then south on Harvin to Bartlette Street.
