Carolina Helping Paws Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer animal rescue organization serving Sumter County and nearby areas in South Carolina. We feel it is our moral responsibility to protect abused and homeless animals, and to save as many animals from terrible circumstances that we can, regardless of breed or age, and to provide appropriate medical care for each rescue. We try to save from h

igh kill shelters when foster homes are available. Animals in our care are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, dewormed if needed, and treated for any medical issues identified. Our volunteer fosters provide love, socialization, and tend to the rescued animal's needs until they are placed in their carefully screened forever home. We believe that it is of vital importance that the animal be placed in the right home with the right family. To help all these animals is very expensive so we are always in need of funds.

Remember Ainsley (now Annie) with her new forever Dad. Well this little girl saved from Clarendon Shelter is living a great life.
Her journey has been quite one to tell. She had to have 3 surgeriesbon the same leg. Yes....three surgeries....
I felt so sorry for her..but now she is doing great
1st surgery...
Think pins were removed too soon Dr said.
2nd surgery..
Too much activity too soon. Screws broke into.
3rd...
As they say was, 3rd time was the charm. Plus a wonderful Dad to monitor and help her recover.
Her Dad says:
"She is A funny sassy lil dog. She and Sam have evolved a relationship- as I had hoped."
Sam is her fur brother.

FORGIVE ME, MOMMY 😢🐾…
I was there where you left me for two whole days. Sleeping right on the side of the road. I was terrified of the noise from the cars but I did not move.

Last night one of those cars stopped and she got out. She invited me to lunch but I said no. She invited me to come sleep at her house and I also said no. I tried to explain to her that I was waiting for you but she wouldn’t listen. She pulled out a leash and said I couldn’t stay there any longer. I bit her several times and ended up peeing on myself as I growled and cried! She didn’t understand that she was separating me from you! She took me against my will and we drove off! I was so sad because I knew you were going to be worried. We ended up at her house.

I kept screaming hoping you would hear me but you never came. I vomited because of my nerves, feeling so sick. I kept telling her I had to go back because you were going to think I abandoned you when you saw I wasn’t there! I, who love you with all my heart and soul have not stopped crying since we separated a few days ago. I want you to know, I would never do that to you.

I don’t know where you are now or why you stopped the car and left me there. Surely you had something very important to do. Can you come find me now, mommy?

Today I ate because my tummy was hurting. I also slept on a very soft bed. And by accident I also wiggled my tail a bit. I’m so sorry, please forgive me. She’s just being really nice to me. She said I could stay forever. She’s calling me Milo but I already have a name. When you pick me up you can tell it to her. You’ll see how surprised she’ll be when you explain to her that this was a big mistake.
Because mommy, you’re coming back for me, right 😢🐾?

Many of you know I (Sandra Sellar) have been doing the auction for Carolina Helping Paws Rescue for over 3 years.
Recently some things have come up that require me to take a step back for a while. We are currently looking for someone willing to take over the auction. I can show you how I have done it and feel confident you will have as much success with it as I have.
If you would like to know more, please send me a private message and I will be happy to speak with you. We need to make sure the auction continues since this is where a lot of the funds come from to take care of the animals.

. Sometimes Facebook doesn't show every bid. You can tell by looking at the number of comments on the item. Each bid is actually 2 comments, one for the bid and one for the thank you. So if it says 6 comments and you only see 4, click on "most relevant" and then "all comments". You will be able to see them all. When you check your bid it may look like you are in the lead but if you check all comments you may not be.
You can also see what the high bids are by checking the "high bids" post that is updated daily.

We do understand that some things in our auctions are not affordable for all. If you see a minimum on an item and you cannot afford it, send a private message with your bid to Sandra Sellar and we will see what we can work out if no one else bids on the item. We want you to get the things you want and can afford but we also have to get a reasonable price for the things we offer to be able to pay the rescue's bills which are currently piling up.

HEARTWORM DISEASE IS 100% PREVENTABLE!!!
If you have never had your dog on heartworm prevention, there is a very good chance he could already be infected with this silent killer! And it doesn't matter if he is an indoor or outdoor dog! It is vital to your pet's health to get him tested and on heartworm prevention year round.

Heartworm disease is a serious disease that results in severe lung disease, heart failure, other organ damage, and death in pets, mainly dogs, cats, and ferrets. It is caused by a parasitic worm called Dirofilaria immitis. The worms are spread through the bite of a mosquito. The dog is the definitive host, meaning that the worms mature into adults, mate, and produce offspring while living inside a dog. The mosquito is the intermediate host, meaning that the worms live inside a mosquito for a short transition period in order to become infective (able to cause heartworm disease). The worms are called “heartworms” because the adults live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of an infected animal.

In the United States, heartworm disease is most common along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from the Gulf of Mexico to New Jersey and along the Mississippi River and its major tributaries, but it has been reported in dogs in all 50 states.
