This week we had a soggy yet fun and full house for daycare. In the back of my mind something was missing. Many of you know one of my regular daycare dogs named Lincoln. I love all the dogs that come to me, I truely do, but Lincoln has always made the top tier on my favorites list. He was the friendliest pup, who loved everyone and every dog he ever met. Lincoln was no spring chicken- at around 14 years old he still ran and jumped and played with the other dogs like he was a puppy. His favorite thing to do was hump, whether it be a big dog, little dog, or the air! 🤣 He was so hard to get a picture of! I swear he knew what I was doing and would intentionally avoid the camera or looking at me. When he got excited he had these wild crazy eyes. He liked getting his spaw days, even though he would always kick me like a horse when I trimmed his nails on his back feet. Lincoln got along with literally every dog he was ever around. One of his best buddies was a black lab that many of the other dogs couldn’t tolerate. When I would put him in “time out” for being naughty I would let Lincoln go with him because they ALWAYS got along. Lincoln was perfect to put with nervous dogs, new puppies, or ones that I wasn’t sure how they would do in a group. Lincoln suffered from herniated discs a year or so ago too, and made an amazing recovery! His zest for life was infectious. He could still jump and hump with the best of them! When a message notification popped up Tuesday evening from Lincoln’s mom I hesitated to open it. Sadly, Lincon passed away very early Tuesday morning. Thankfully he went rather quickly and peacefully with his family by his side. There wasn’t anything the vet could have done to save him. Lincoln lived a long life full of love and happiness. I am so heartbroken for his family, and selfishly myself. I love “my” dogs and feel their loss as my own. Rest in peace sweet Lincoln Log, I hope you’re enjoying running around and hu***ng and peeing on everything in heaven. 🌈🐕‍🦺💔

Happy Thanksgiving from LOLPR! My day was a little crazy between managing all the pups as well as cooking for my crew, but it all turned out great. All the doggos had a thanksgiving sampler before their real dinner tonight. To say they were pleased was an understatement! Top of the list was the ham (of course) followed by sweet potatoes and a bite of biscuit. Sorry grandma, but your beans were at the bottom of the ranks. Kona thought that the cranberry sauce was to die for! Thank you Happy for the help with the photos! 🤣

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our wonderful customers, both furry and two legged! The pups are having a great time despite the cold and rain, and are looking forward to their Thanksgiving dinner treats tonight! Take the time to really enjoy your family and friends today!

All dogs learn this when they’re at the kennel. Your pup can do this at home! Even the old dogs learn this really quickly. I do not use the word “no”, but rather “wait”. The dogs have to wait until I release them with the word “okay” before they can come out of their run. This prevents them from rushing out the door and hurting themselves, me, or other dogs by crashing out of their crate! Your pup can be on their best behavior at home too. Using the wait technique at kennel doors, car doors and man doors can be the difference from you and your pet getting hurt instead of a dangerous situation. 🐾❤️
