To all staff and clients, future clients,

Our barn is a wonderful melting pot of people from different nationalities, gender, identities, orientations and cultures. We love that about our barn ,and our clients, and we want all our staff, clients and friends to know that this barn is SAFE. EVERYONE is welcome in our barn.
Animals and especially horses are incredibly empathic, loving and kind natured, they do not care about anything but you as horsepeople showing them kindness, respect and the occasional treat at the end of their ride.

Everyone deserves the chance to experience the joy they can bring us, and the quiet moments in the barn that make you forget all your worries, if only for a few hours. We will NOT turn away anyone because of any nationality, culture, identity, orientation ect.
You are safe, you are loved and you are all heard. We're so honored to know you all. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’™

Hello all! Congrats on a successful show season to all riders!

As we head out of season and into no stirrup November and drop stirrup December we will be giving the horses massive breaks on jumping lessons and starting to work more on everyone's flat work with and without stirrups!

Congrats to all riders this weekend at the last and BIGGEST HEASS to date! All the girls put in competitive rides and cleaned up this weekend!

All the girls had great attitudes and proved themselves in each of their rings, some just stepping into the show ring for the first time and some stepping up to the big ring!

Going of Champions-
Rae on Freyja- Champion 2'6" special hunter
Anna on Scooby-Reserve Champion 2'6" Special hunter
Anna on Wyld- 2'6" T.I.P Champion
Lauren on Freyja- 2' Reserve Champion 2' Limit rider

Honorable mentions:

Perri spent all season fine tuning her skills and trying her best for MT in the 18" baby hunters
Always being ringside for her team mates and having the best attitude and just enjoying learning her most difficult but best courses all season!

Ava and Reilly stepped up to thr 2' ring this show and made leaps and bounds in their classes and scores through the weekend and are ready for a winter reset and to fine tune their skills for next season!

Izzy and Anahita stepped foot in the show ring for the first time with cool mindsets and good attitudes for the weekend!

Charlee got her first 1st place in dressage and increased her score from her last test, staying focused and helping her team mates learn their course work!

Lauren (Little Lauren) navigated scooby around the 18s this weekend learning from her any mistakes in her rounds and placing herself 3rd out of 17 kids!

All I Want To Do Is Jump

I ran a fairly large lesson program for almost 20 years. This is a statement I have heard over and over, both in my lesson barn days and from colleagues today.

All I want to do is jump.

There are a few problems with this. Let's start with the horse. I love the old horseman's saying " horses only have so many jumps in them ". Is that 100, 1000 before it becomes lame.... No one knows....but horses certainly weigh a lot and the concussion landing on those small little legs is significant. Horses also get bored, burned out....and let's face it...sour.
Respect for the horse . The riders job is to do the best thing for the horse. Most horses only need jumped a few days a week. That means if a lesson horse works 5 days a week, only 2 of those are jumping days. 3 of those are purely flatwork or hacking.

Riders : most of jumping well has NOTHING to do with jumping. Riders need to work on pace, transitions, straightness, their position, effectiveness of aids, balance, ability to change positions smoothly ( from 2 point to sitting etc ) and so much more.

So if you are one of those students who Just Wants To Jump , please replace that with "I want to be an effective rider and horseman or woman . I want to do what is best for the horse "

And instructors who cave to this plea from students
Only YOU can set the CULTURE of your barn. Talk frequently about horsemanship and doing right by the animals.

Well, we are a few days late but wanted to say Congratulations! to all our riders this weekend after another fantastic Happily Ever After Show.

This week was stressful to say the least but everyone came together and showed what a great team we have in the barn.

Lauren and Kaitlyn made us proud with the last minute horse switch from Scooby to Wyld and put in great, smart rides and brought home a bunch of ribbons!

Lauren put in some gritty rides on a grumpy Mt and showed fantastic sportsmanship all weekend bringing home a ribbon in one of her last classes.

Anna G stepped into the jumper ring for the first time this year with Freyja and had some amazing goes, for a good ribbon haul as well.

Anna K had a new to her ride with Nova and had some great schooling rounds.

Special thanks to all of our wonderful parents and family members, without your support we couldnt do all this!

Congrats to all our riders this weekend on a wonderful show and a good show up of team spirit and support for one another!

This was the first show for all our young riders!
They were fantastic and handled the stress of showing and their nerves amazingly!

2 of our riders had a return to showing but hadn't shown in around 20 years! Those ladies didn't miss a beat and also played their roles as show mom's for their daughters (which is a crazy feat to manage )

It was a bit crazy making sure mom and daughter pairs weren't riding at the same time but everyone left rings with ribbons and smiles this weekend!

Special thanks to Anna for helping keep the teens orangized while also showing herself!

And Amanda who showed up as groom, teenager wrangler and entertainment ๐Ÿ˜‚

Congrats to all riders on being in ribbons in every arena you stepped in this weekend! We are very proud!

First show with the team for Lauren on Freyja, placing well in her 3 flat classes, 2 of which being the equitation which she's never done in the past!

Anna K pulled a reserve champion in the 2' hunters this weekend with Freyja, navigating her course work well and bringing out the best in Freyjas training on the flat!

Rae and Anna G showed Vinnie in the 18 inch Saturday and the 2 foot Sunday, it was vinnies very first show and first time off property since Rae purchased him in November. He proved to be a super solid citizen and while green handled himself and a busy environment well and handled everything far above any expectation we could've had!

Freyja and Vinnie also finally met this weekend officially

Freyja will have all her ribbons on display this week so everyone can Ooo and Ahh at how perfect she is๐Ÿ˜‚

Fellow horse people- the next few days were seeing a huge pressure drop and low temps! If you don't already feed them be feeding a prebiotic and electrolyte this week!
If your horse hates electrolytes give them 2 tablespoons of regular table or iodized salt from your pantry, keep them drinking, keep hay in front of them! Give a little extra grain, 4-6 oz/a regular measuring cup, for some extra calories.
I love feeding warm alfalfa mash with salt in it if my horses have to stay in to add extra water to their day.

And for yourself- keep DRINKING I know we fuss with the horses but we need to drink and if we keep ourselves hydrated and fed we can do our jobs better ๐Ÿ˜Š
