Humble, hardworking, honest, and talented. These are a just a few of the words friends of Heath McNeill use to describe the diligent and soft-spoken horse trainer from North Carolina. Although he didn’t grow up in the horse business, Heath was introduced to horses at an early age and spent much of his childhood riding western pleasure and barrel horses. After finishing high school, the young cowbo
y set his sights on becoming a horse trainer. Over the years Heath was fortunate to have the opportunity to refine his skills under the guidance of several great horsemen including Donnie Dickerson, Barbara Prather and Mark Shaffer. Heath is proud to have helped trained and/or shown many great horses including ApHC World Champions Shouldaasterfaster, SFC Zip Past The Bar, Chips And Roses and Zippo Dancer as well as accomplished show horses One Hot Chip, An Asset For Sure, A Burning Melody, and Blazing Hot Machine. In 2009, Heath moved to Ohio in order to be closer to his long time girlfriend and soon to be fiancé, Kimberley Hatfield. Heath spent his first two years in Ohio working for Brian and Dawn Baker, helping them prepare the young futurity horses. In 2011, Heath once again stepped out on his own and welcomed clients back to Heath McNeill Performance Horses. In 2012, Heath and Kim were married and on September 25, 2013 the couple proudly welcomed their son, Maddox.
