Our Legacy
The Star and Crescent Ranch was originally established in Medora, ND in the late 1880’s. My husband’s great grandfather and grandfather ran the ranch which was located on the Little Missouri River across from Teddy Roosevelt’s property. The two ranches helped each other with cattle drives, branding, and whatever else needed to get accomplished on the ranch. There is a mailbag that hangs in Medora with the “Pesheck” name on it and Winfield Pesheck was Mayor at some point in Medora. Teddy Roosevelt was a personal family friend of the Pesheck Family. The original ranch land was incorporated into the Teddy Roosevelt National Park, so when we moved to Wyoming in 2011 we resurrected the ranch name.
Through raising fillies from the Bartlett Ranch in LaGrange WY we are working to establish quality performance horses to be purchased as weanlings. Our fillies will grow into beautiful mares and be bred at the three (3) year mark. Their pedigrees are exceptional and have champion ropers, heelers, barrel racers to name a few, in their background. Solid quarter horses established by Bill Smith and Woody Bartlett many years ago. The Bartlett ranches (Flying B) are located in Wyoming, Alabama and Texas. They were the winner of the 2016 AQHA Best Remuda Award for outstanding horses. The ranch has won many awards over the years and the offspring have produced some high earnings champions.
Handle Bar Doc, Doc Bar, Peppy San Badger, Preferred Pay, Preferred Strategy, Royals Diligence, Royal Blue Gent, Especial, Playgun, Very Special Playgun, Very Special Peppy, Dash for Cash and Freckles Pl***oy are just a few names you will find in their pedigree. If you are interested in a weanling please let us know. You can’t go wrong with one of these beauties and their disposition is outstanding, very much people oriented and ready to please.
