We would love to introduce the newest members of our rescue family, each one arriving with their own story and ready for a fresh start filled with love and hope. 💙

✨ Meet Jake
Jake’s story tugged at our hearts. He was being surrendered to a local shelter by the only mom he has ever known—through no fault of his own. She became homeless and could no longer care for him. We simply could not leave him behind.
Jake is an estimated 10 years old, weighs 13 pounds, and is an absolutely adorable Maltese who deserves comfort, stability, and lots of love in his golden years.

✨ Meet Jetty
Jetty is pure sweetness! This precious boy is 1 year and 4 months old, weighs 15 pounds, and is a charming Lhasa Apso mix. He’s the perfect size for snuggles and companionship.

✨ Meet Gloria
Gloria is a true beauty! She is 1 year old, weighs 45 pounds, and is a lovely Bulldog mix with so much potential and love to give.

✨ Meet Kilo
Kilo couldn’t be any cuter if he tried! This handsome baby is 17 weeks old, weighs 20 pounds, and is a playful Lab mix ready to grow up with a family of his own.

All of these pups are ready for new beginnings with families who will shower them with lots of love. 🐶❤️

💙🐾 A Heartfelt Thank You to Ashley Lawrence! 🐾💙

We would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to Ashley Lawrence with Dogs’n Cats Oh My In-Home Grooming for generously giving her time and incredible talent to come in and groom some of our dogs.

Ashley is truly wonderful with our pups—calm, patient, and so kind—and it shows. The dogs always feel so much better after their spa day, inside and out. ✨🐶

✨ A Rescue Story Like No Other — Congratulations, May! ✨🐾

Some rescue stories are so perfectly woven that they remind us why we believe in second chances, teamwork, and a little bit of magic. May’s journey is one of those stories.

We truly could not have scripted her path any better.

May was within one hour of being out of chances when everything changed. That’s when Marianne and Jon—prior adopters of our handsome boy Skunk—stepped up without hesitation and said the words every rescue hopes to hear: “We’ll foster her.” They knew Skunk wouldn’t mind a temporary playmate, and what they gave May in that moment was far more than a foster home—they gave her hope.

Once May was settled, Marianne and Jon wanted to prepare her for the best future possible. They asked for help giving her the tools to become the best version of herself, and in stepped Kristy from Say It Once Dog Training. Kristy worked closely with May and her fosters, and May absolutely shined. She was eager, receptive, and truly excelled—proving once again what love, patience, and guidance can do.

Then came the moment no one saw coming, but everyone loves.

On a simple evening stroll through the neighborhood, Marianne, Jon, May, and Skunk ran into their neighbors. A conversation turned into a connection, and before long, those neighbors knew—May was meant to be part of their family.

What makes this adoption even more special is that May didn’t just gain one family—she gained two. Her foster family and her adoptive family have become close friends. When they get together, May and Skunk get to hang out, and during the week, while May’s mom and dad are at work, May heads over to Skunk’s house for daycare, spending her days with her best buddy.

This is what collaborative teamwork looks like. This is what success looks like. This is a rescue dog surrounded by love, stability, friendship, and joy. ❤

Thank you to Marianne, Jon, and Skunk for stepping up for May when she needed you most. Thank you to Kristy at Say It Once Dog Training for working with the fosters and adopters and helping prepare May for her forever home. Don’t say rescue dogs can’t be the best at everything—because they absolutely can! 💪🐾

Our very own alumni Nyla has a new job! She is now a working Psychiatric Service Dog, traveling around the country and saving her handler’s life every single day while being the very best rescue girl possible. 💕

Nyla was trained by Lauren at Tried and True Train and Stay, and her journey is a powerful reminder of what love, patience, and opportunity can do.

She is just one of the many dogs we have rescued and loved that have gone on to serve their communities in incredible ways, and we are proud to see them out in the world making such a meaningful difference. 🐶✨

We are so happy to share some wonderful news—congratulations to our adorable little boy and Dog of the Week, Kringle, who found his forever home today! 💛🏡

Rescue doesn’t happen alone. 🤝

Dedicated shelter and rescue staff, along with dedicated foster homes work together as a well-oiled team—each playing a vital role in giving animals the very best chance at success in their forever homes.

Because of strong rescue partnerships, lives are saved every single day. 🐾 And because of this incredible team effort, adorable **11-week-old Blue—now Rocco—**has found a loving family who will care for him exactly the way he deserves.

Along his journey, Rocco made lots of new friends and now has two canine siblings, Hank and Hazel (an HSCC alum!), to help keep him busy and loved. 🐶🐶💛

Another big Thank-You to Christian and Chrissy Fischer for sponsoring Rocco's adoption fee in loving memory of Julia Fischer and Michelle Wert, both lovers of all animals.
