RIP Calvin. 💔 I'm so sorry that we didn't find you sooner. Huge thanks to our veterinarian and her staff who did everything they could to try to save him. Unfortunately, Calvin was already too far gone when we found him, and he ended up passing peacefully on his own terms while a nurse was there with him. Calvin knew love and was not alone, for that we are eternally grateful. We are very thankful to the staff at Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette for their loving compassion, dedication, and so much more. Words can not begin to express how much we appreciate our veterinarian and her staff. Thank you Dr. Angie and staff for always doing so much for the animals, and for doing it with so much love. ❤️

$6 Saturday for help paying Hup's vet bills at Companion Animal Hospital of !! We have not raised nearly enough to pay his vet bills off! Please help if you can! Our volunteers have been paying most of the vet bills for Humane Society over the last couple of years! Last year, one family wiped out their personal savings. The can not stay open if there are not enough donors to help us keep the vet bills paid! Please, every little bit does help! Since our last post, we have only raised $5.00 of the remaining $274.00 still owed! We are a 100% volunteer 501c3 non-profit animal rescue. There are no paid staff! Every penny donated goes to help the rescue ! You can also call Dr. Angie's office to pay directly on Hup's vet bills!

Hup went to the Companion Animal Hospital of Lafayette to see Dr. Angie on 6/2/2025 for swelling in his hocks (heels) and limping. X-rays showed signs of osteoarthritis. To confirm this diagnosis and rule out other potential issues, he was treated for 3 days with the Rx Onsior to see if it would reduce the swelling or not. There was 50% improvement in the swelling after just 2 doses of the anti-inflammatory pain medication, so the diagnosis of osteoarthritis has been confirmed. Hup was born with a birth defect that caused some of his toes to be fused together, and some of his claws not be in the normal location of his paws. Because of this, it's even more important for him to have his nails and horn trimmed regularly at the vet's office. The paw condition itself is not painful. However, it does cause his gait (walk) to be different than a cat with normal paws. Over time, the way he walks can cause osteoarthritis. Hup came to us on 10/23/2019 as a tiny kitten, and still has not been adopted due to his birth defect being a reason that no one wanted him. He has been on Petfinder since he was a kitten! Sponsors are urgently needed to pay the remainder of Hup's vet bill and for his continued care.

Because we do not euthanize for space, Haruhi and many other unwanted cats like her are still with our rescue awaiting furrever homes. Lack of adoptions and a drastic reduction in donations is why we have taken in so many fewer animals than we used to.
