Sammy
Just like that maternity leave is over. She’s a good one for sure.
Always looking for that next all clear, non white factored male for future crosses post studs below(Videos only) not in to photogenic stud dogs.
Sam and Belle
Full siblings here. Ole trusty Sam and his younger sister Belle getting her debut. She’s turning out to be a good one along with spade to lighten the load on the old dogs.
Spade
Still needs some job experience but looking to have the things that are needed to be a cattle dog
Sam
I did a small demonstration at the Nuckolls County Fair and Rodeo Thursday and Friday. This is part of the video. I was pretty nervous to perform in front of many hometown mentors. Hope everyone enjoyed it next year might try something different any recommendations?
Sam pushing some across the pond
Sammy
Sammy has had several weeks off being pregnant and raising pups. She isn’t as crisp as the day we left off but should have her back and ready for the trials. Another once in a lifetime dog I need to thank God for. I have had some good ones happy to have another.
Sauce
Been bad about not getting any video lately. Sorted heifers the other day to sell the big end and used this pen as a holding pen.
Spade
Spade got quite the workout today it wasn’t real hot but humidity was terrible. Mentally kinda over his head as well but overall did really well considering all the new things as well as big groups of fresh calves to dog break. Will continue with a couple sets to get ready for a trial.
Sam
Is it even summer without a swim? May want to fast forward it takes a minute to get across
Spade
Got spade back tonight just in time to work him. The last time I worked these goats I bought last week they were pile driving dogs into the fence. They were pretty respectful of spade he went straight to working and didn’t miss a beat.
Sam
Today while i was playing around I was able to sort the sheep and goats twice so I got a video of it the second time.
Belle
Gonna start using belle more and more. Spade will be back next week so stay tuned for all the young dogs bloopers while Sammy will not be used as she’s bred.
Sauce
Had to catch these to spray for flies and treat a couple eyes. Boring but works gotta be done
Sauce
Just a goat dog moving some new goats around. Definitely the most persistent little A-holes ever with pin point accuracy.
Sam’s First field cattledog trial.
Lots to work on first open cattle field for Sam. I felt he did really well I don’t manage them much at home he stayed responsive for as many commands it takes. Run out of time. Over 300 yards I’d suspect.
Wren
This is wren, she’s a year and a couple months. Will be up for grabs once I get her going a bit more. From what I’m seeing now she will be a hobby/ helper dog. Just wanting to find her the perfect place as she’s such a sweet dog. She’s easy to work, fast, energetic dog that’s a pleasure to be around. Pm me if you have any questions. She’s a SamxSage will post papers in comments.
Another long video from the other day video is 6 minutes and I gave 3 commands. It took about 7 more minutes to get them across the water. These videos are boring but it’s something I take time to watch and really see how the dog can actually gather without 542 commands. I’d much rather see if the dog can control the group and create flow on there own not if they are obedient enough to listen to what you want both is nice but one is a deal breaker for me.
Sam
I am so blessed to be able to do what I do and have what I have. Long boring video of Sam gathering a few that got through the hot wire to the next paddock. I try to breed for good all around dogs. That means good minded, good traveling, good conformation, strong, confident, dogs that bite when they need to and work livestock quietly and efficiently the rest of the time. Also so thankful for the much needed rain a month ago.
Tilly is such a fun pup. I think this is her 3rd time on sheep and seems to have a lot of cool moves for a pup.
Here’s a couple littermates to Sammy down at the trial at Mooneys. I didn’t get any video of my runs which none were great, I was able to watch 4 littermates over the weekend. I can say with certainty that the 4 of the 7 pups in that litter and they are all legit nice dogs. Another is a stud dog for Moura, I don’t know a lot about about another female, and then there’s Sammy we all know she’s legit. That was the best cross I have ever seen so glad Kevin Lippe saw Sam and decided to breed Red to Sam. I’m so proud to have my Sam dogs name in front of these pups couldn’t ask for any better cross.
Out of curiosity what has everyone’s experience been with repeat crosses? I have heard repeat proven crosses spoken highly of and some say it’s never as good just curious to hear from those with any experience of it?
