One came from Shannon County, Missouri, the other from the windswept shores of Cedar Island, NC. Their journeys were miles apart, but fate had a different plan. They met at the Wild Horse Preserve at Grayce Wynds—and instantly became inseparable.

Where one goes, the other follows. Grazing, running, resting—always side by side, like they were meant to find each other. A bond stronger than words, a friendship as wild as their hearts.

Some friendships are just meant to be. 💫

A Poignant Farewell
To the last surviving herd of wild horses in South Carolina. On March 19, 2023 I had the privilege of seeing them for myself. I learned that their fate depended on new owners who would buy their private habitat, Little Horse Island. The island still has not sold so the decision was made to rehome the seven remaining horses. There were many reasons for this decision. The final gathering happened on November 6, 2024. We want to publicly thank Dr. Venaye Reece and her husband who cared for this wild herd for over a decade.. They live nearby and supplemented feed when necessary, and they spearheaded an effort to "save" the horses. Today, the horses are still free roaming in a similar environment only now they have nutritious food, shelter, and regular vet/farrier care. They are a hybrid breed of Marsh Tacky and Shetland ponies, very smart and hardy. I encourage you to learn more about this herd by watching YouTube videos, and stay tuned for our own video which will be included on our website. As of November, there are now only 8 states in the eastern half of our country that have wild horses. There are 10 states "Out West" that have wild horses, and many of those wild herds are also endangered due to many reasons. God bless wild horses!!

Our Hearts and Horses fundraiser welcomes families, friends, and horse lovers of all ages on February 15, from 1 to 4 pm, for an unforgettable day with the wild horses of the Eastern United States.

Sweet and cuddly, I’ll steal your heart,
But late with breakfast? That’s not smart.

Camouflaged like “Where’s Waldo?” in leaves,
I’m hard to spot, so look close, please.
But miss my meal, and you’ll feel my glare—
A hungry cat’s wrath? Best beware!

We just received this photo from a resident on Midland Road in Corolla, NC. In 2022 we were able to purchase land to create a pony park. We consider this area an endangered wild horse habitat due to persistent development. We appreciate the support of local residents who also want to see land "preserved" for the wild horses. Enjoy yourselves, Wild Ones❤️
