A Special and Sad Farm Update: Feb 28, 2025
Roy passed away early this morning. He seemed to be fine Thursday night so his death is a mystery. There was no sign of a struggle. It appeared that he laid down and died. I am content to say, “it was his time to go.” On May 17th this year, he would have been twenty years old. He was picked up about 4:00 to be cremated. We expect his ashes back in a couple of weeks. We will have a memorial celebration of his life with drinks and stories. I am enclosing pictures of his buddies who paid their respects, and one of Silas kissing him goodbye. Susan painted a picture of him, which is also attached.
I recited to Roy my favorite poem, which I memorized from my favorite horse movie, Dreamer.
Ode to Roy
You are a great champion!
When you run, the Earth shakes
The sky opens
And people make way for you
To run into the Winner’s Circle
Where I put a blanket of flowers
On your back.
I did, indeed, put a blanket of flowers on his back. Rest In Peace, Roy!!
