"Well, I don’t want to offend anyone."⠀

"I am really proud of my journey, but I can't talk or post about it."⠀

"I can't celebrate this milestone in my journey."⠀

YES YOU CAN.⠀

BE PROUD.⠀

SHARE YOUR JOURNEY.⠀

Do we share when we have completed other goals? Running a marathon? Getting healthy? Finishing our home improvement plans?⠀

Of freaking course. Those are all over social media. People congratulating them, telling them how great they did. And they should! Those are accomplishments they worked hard for.⠀

But so is your breastfeeding journey. This is so much unseen work put it. So many emotional days and nights. Hurdles. Issues. So many questions. ⠀

So much trying. So much perseverance.⠀

This. Is. Work. Hard work. And you're allowed to be proud of yourself and your journey. You're allowed to celebrate the small and big milestones throughout this journey.⠀

You may just inspire others to start sharing their stories. Share their struggles. Ask for help.⠀

It could start an open conversation and encourage more women than you know.⠀

Be proud.

Absolutely amazing read from a very good friend

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐝: An unhealthy attachment & psychological response to the person involved in or responsible for your trauma or traumatic event.
Let me make this clear: If you have a trauma bond, it is NOT. YOUR. FAULT. You are a VICTIM. A victim of a provider who cared more about his dinner plans than your birth experience & mental health. A victim of a nurse who let her own biases affect her ability to support you. A victim of a midwife who lied through her teeth & used fear to back you into a corner.
Read this loud & clear: We will NOT victim blame on this platform. What we WILL do is validate ALL situations of birth trauma.
Unfortunately, the person or people who cause birth trauma are not the ones left to heal from it. The freshly-postpartum woman is. As if physical healing & adjusting to all sorts of newness isn’t enough, we are left to process & heal from unwanted trauma.
Some of us haven’t reached the point of processing yet. Some of us have yet to realize that we experienced a traumatic event & have developed a trauma bond.
Hear this: If your provider’s use of outdated information/lies/fear-mongering/coercion/assault/lack of patience led you to a traumatic birth, then returning to that same provider for subsequent births may be the result of a trauma bond. Expecting a different birth experience while heading down the same path is not in yours or your baby’s best interest.
Us birth workers are here to help you. Let us guide you to the perfect provider & place of birth. Consider the support of a doula for your birth. Pray about/meditate on/envision/journal about your ideal birth. Create a birth plan. Stand up for yourself & don’t feel bad about it!
You are worthy. You are strong. You are capable. You are worth more than half-assed, rushed care.

Burnout is real!!

The struggles and trials of being a new momma can be exhausting and draining. You can easily feel overwhelmed and tired or drained. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE ASHAMED OF!

When you start to notice things like constant headaches or fatigue or less happy or a feeling of emptiness these are signs to watch for.

ASK👏FOR👏HELP!!

It's ok to call up your friend or postpartum doula or whoever and say you need a break. A great support group will help you through ❤️

F.E.R or Fur???? What's the difference

F-fetal
E-ejection
R-reflex

So now we know what it stands for but what does that mean and do ????

F.E.R is the reflex that will help you deliver your baby (almost) pain free 😅

When your body is allowed to do what it is meant for and able to do your baby will come earth side very easily. Often times mothers are unable to experience this telex due to coached pushing. When F.E.R kicks in that means your body is FULLY ready to deliver your baby. When baby is able to come when ready labor goes much smoother and quicker.
You hear horror stories of hours of pushing but had momma been able to experience her F.E.R baby is much more likely to be delivered after just a few pushes.

Where you able to experience your F.E.R or were you coached through your pushing????

Wow.... let that sink in for a minute.

For hundreds of years women have been giving birth and it is completely normal. So why now is it an "emergency"?

Now it may not look like an emergency room where everyone is running in and out at top speed and hustle and bustle and lode and death but instead a slower version possibly.

A birthing mother is typically hooked up to machines and monitors, having checks and test run, and running on their drs time clock...but WHY???

What would happen if we as women and as a whole took our births back?!? What if we have into our instincts and our biological abilities??? How many women would come back and say "Ya I would do that again!" or "Yes my birth was done every way I wanted and it was amazing!"

Let's normalize birth again!!!!

Hello all of my beautiful people ❤️❤️ I feel like it is definitely over due for an introduction post so.. here one is!!

Hi, my name is Kaitlynn Dobbs (Henderson). I am 20 years old, married, and have a gorgeous 9 month old daughter I couldn't live without. I have 3 pups that make life interesting 😂 and wild. My goal is to have a pig and a horse later on.

I started exploring the world of becoming a doula after my amazing home birth with an incredible doula. After witnessing and looking back on my free birth with her I knew that becoming a doula was definitely what I wanted to do. The passion she held for all of her mommas and the passion for informed birth drive me to follow in her footsteps and make the (scary) jump into becoming one myself.

I went through HERBAL and became certified as a doula, placenta preparationist, and a peer lactation counselor.

My goal as a doula is to empower and enlighten all mommas with their births. To give women the power to have their pregnancy and birth the way they want is all I want to see for the amazing mommas.

I would love to hear any and every birth experience from all of you as well. Feel free to ask any questions you may have or that I did not get answered ❤️

"You have to have baby by 40 wks or your placement will stop working"
😬
That is one of the most common phrases told to mothers by drs. It is a great excuse for an induction.
But......is it true??? The simple answer..... NO!

You placenta will provide for baby (unless there are other medical issues) as long as baby needs. That is its main purpose to supply baby what baby needs so why would it just "p**p" out?!

Experienced momma here and I went to 42+2. My placenta still gave baby everything she needed! Let's normalize going past 40 wks because.... IT IS OK!!!! ❤️❤️

This is a touchy subject.... but why? 🤔

In common prenatal care there is a list of tests and procedures that your doctor will want to do. Most women not knowing any difference will go through with them without a second glance.

But have you ever wondered if that test/procedure was necessary? What about if that test/procedure has risk or complications??

These are all very valid thoughts and there is a way to avoid them. Just say your answer is NO.

Mothers have been scared into doing whatever their provider says is right or necessary without having the ability to weight the risks vs. benefits.

So when IS it ok to say NO?

It is absolutely ok to say no AT ANY POINT!
Does that test make you uncomfortable?? Say NO!
Does this procedure not feel safe? Say NO!
Are you comfortable with the extra touching? Say NO!

You can not consent and say no to ANYTHING that makes you scared or uncomfortable....... and that is OK! ❤️

Beautiful ❤️❤️

Beautiful ❤️❤️

It was insanely awesome. And my labor was less than 5 hrs. I never got to the point where I thought I could no longer go drug free.
