Today was a VERY busy breeding day. All 3 does with Malachite have been bred. Frankie's date with Pholia Farm LB Shot in the Dark *B was successful. So now we wait for 60 days. Then I will have ultrasounds done to verify they settled, and get an educated kid count guess. Hopefully we will have around 12 kids on the ground the 1st week of February!!!

Malachite had the right moves for Kaboom. That means around Feb 4th we start H***y Goat Acres spring kidding 🤩

Breeding Schedule: The girls should start being interested in the boys next week. Giving us kids on the ground starting around the end of January, and ready to go to their new homes end of March/Early April.

Below is my plan. I will add dates and a detailed listing for each paring once the deed is done.

We are 3 weeks out from setting up breeding pens!! I will have a more official post next week. I am excited to share that Frankie has been invited to have a date with a extra special fella. I might be holding on to some doelings this spring, then making some herd changes around August next year.

I have 5 young roosters that are ready for their own flocks. They all hatched April 15-17. Father is BCM, mom's are either BCM or barnyard mix. One very handsome and LARGE white fella, 4 that look like dad. Of the black and brown 2 have upright combs 2 have floppy. We are in Surprise off 303 and Grand.

I am excited to have Sweet Snow White Mizuki added to our herd. I purchased her for genetics. But also because I try to give quality of life to my animals. Lola has always been the "odd man out" and I had hoped she and Zuki would hit it off. Boy have they!! IYKYK

So, we went away for the weekend and the zucchini went crazy. These monsters are headed out to our chickens and our compost pile unless somebody wants them. As always they are free. We will compost them tonight.

This was my mother's day gift to myself. I took some time to sit with the goats and just enjoy their company. Sometimes we forget enjoy the fruits of our labor.

We had a great Linear Appraisal session last week! This is the first time our herd has been appraised. It was extremely informative and I hope we have the opportunity to participate again next year. Our appraiser took the time to really explain the why for each score and being a first timer I really appreciated the extra time that was spent. I also have to thank Sweet Snow White Nigerian Dwarf Goats for hosting our herd.

-V in front legs and feet
-G in Head and rear legs
- she has great udder capacity but not enough room for it, her rump width and attachments are lacking. What this means is she will have a shorter milking lifespan.

-Body Depth 32, Strength 32, Dairyness 35
-G in Head, legs front and rear, and back
- the appraiser noted with Lola being a FF she can only score her udder as such since it needs to fully develop.

🔵Sweet Snow White Kaboom (6 yrs) 🔵
Although I re-tattoo'd her two weeks prior to the Appraisal and verified it took, the day of LA the herd tattoo was gone again. So she could not be officially appraised. The appraiser did look her over and let me know that our buck, Omnicolor Calico, had improved the front end assembly for Frankie.

Fawn was dry, so excused from Appraisal. Which was a good thing since she is way over conditioned right now.

I learned so much, and feel like I am heading in the right direction with our breeding. I may need to keep a few doeings this spring prove my point. I just gotta figure out where to put em. 😄
