Urgent Petcare is hiring emergency veterinary technicians for our new hospital. We are a veterinary urgent care hospital located in Surprise, Arizona, with a projected opening of mid-June 2022. CVT certification is a plus but not a requirement. Please submit resumes to [Email hidden].
Technical Qualifications
• Complete tasks in a timely and thorough manner.
• Place and maintain intravenous catheters in a diverse set of patients, including neonates, seniors, debilitated, dehydrated or critical patients.
• Place of feeding tubes, central intravenous catheters, nasal oxygen cannulas, male and female urinary catheters
• Proficient in the pre-anesthetic, anesthetic, and post-anesthetic processes. This includes competency in current anesthetic medications, monitoring, intubation, troubleshooting, documentation, and recovery of patients
• Proficient in calculating drug dosages, ratios, dilutions, concentration, and CRIs
• Setup surgical suite and prepare and execute needed pre-operative, operative, and post-operative patient care tasks
• Admit patients for hospitalization based on the attending clinician’s medical orders
• Perform patient restraint, patient handling, venipuncture, acquisition of x-ray and ultrasound images, and patient treatments
• Proficient in protocols pertinent to patients diagnosed or suspected of infectious disease
• Able to perform CPR
• Able to intubate a patient
• Able to set up and administer a blood transfusion
Writing and Communication Responsibilities
• Superb communicator with team members, doctors, diverse clientele, and referral members.
• Excellent documentation skills for patients, incident reports, operating procedures, and maintenance information.
• Willing to learn how to build treatment and surgical estimates and present estimates to the client
• Document patient history, patient vital parameters, medications administered and medical notes pertinent to patient using current veterinary medical terminology
Physical Qualifications
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift patients and equipment regularly that weight up to 50 lbs
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to bend, stand and walk for frequent and long durations of time
Schedule Expectations
• Expected to work flexible hours and be amenable to changing hours based on hospital and staffing needs
General Hospital Expectations
• Maintenance of surgical pack preps
• Maintenance of drug inventory
• Maintenance laundry and linen, including
• Familiarity with canine and feline breeds
Education Requirements
• High School diploma or higher required
• 2+ years working as a veterinary technician
• Minimum of 1 years in an urgent care or emergency animal hospital setting
• CVT is not required but is considered an asset
