I still get lots of messages regarding adopting babies, and while I appreciate people wanting to adopt from me, I unfortunately no longer breed pedigreed hedgehogs as of 2 years? I think lol! *IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING USPS ISSUES, SHIPPING, AND ORDER REPLACEMENTS/REFUNDS/POLICIES*

We wanted to address some recent issues we’ve been experiencing with our shipping provider, USPS. Over the past month, we’ve encountered an increase in missing packages, extremely delayed shipments, and unfortunately, damaged items upon arrival. This is not the experience we strive to provide at The Prickled Rose, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this has caused.

As a small business, we value each and every one of you, and your satisfaction is our top priority. We are currently evaluating our shipping options, including the possibility of switching to UPS or FedEx to ensure a more reliable delivery service. However, this switch could result in higher shipping costs.

Our Policies
To clarify our current policies and help manage expectations, please review the following:

Order Cancellations, Returns, and Exchanges:
We regret to inform you that we do not accept order cancellations, returns, or exchanges. Please carefully review your order before completing the purchase. If you have any questions or concerns about a product, feel free to contact us prior to placing your order.

Lost, Stolen, and Damaged Packages:
Once an order is shipped, we are no longer responsible for the package. In the unfortunate event of a lost, stolen, or damaged package, we advise customers to contact the postal company directly to initiate an insurance claim and seek reimbursement for their purchase. We do not offer replacements or refunds for packages that are lost, stolen, or damaged. As a small business, we appreciate your understanding of this policy.

Insurance Claims:
If your package is lost, stolen, or damaged, please contact the postal company promptly to file an insurance claim. It is the customer’s responsibility to follow up with the postal company and secure a refund through the insurance claim process. We are unable to assist in this matter beyond providing any necessary order information.

Fulfillment and Shipping Times:
We are currently on a 5 business day fulfillment time that does not include weekends or holidays. Please note that fulfillment time does not include shipping.

For shipping, we offer:

Priority Mail: Approximately 1-3 days
Parcel Select Ground: Approximately 5-26 days

Recommendations:
To mitigate these issues, we strongly encourage you to choose Priority Mail over Parcel Select Ground. While Parcel Select Ground may be cheaper, Priority Mail ensures faster delivery with hopefully fewer issues, for only a couple of dollars more.

Happy Saturday everyone! Life is slowly getting back to "normal", I appreciate everyone's love and patience during these past couple of months. Its been a lot health and life wise!

My sweet foster, Patricia, passed away this morning. Her decline was very sudden and extremely devastating. My rescue took in Patricia with her brother a couple of months ago. She was morbidly obese but the sweetest hedgehog I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. We got her on a diet and she was making amazing strides at losing weight and absolutely loved running on her wheel when she was finally physically able to. As she stayed with me, she grew more and more attached to my heart. She was my beautiful foster fail who I absolutely adored. I’ve been sick the past 2 weeks and stuck in bed, not handling my hedgehogs much to keep them safe and just doing feedings and spot cleans. When I noticed her bottle not touched, I knew something was up. Despite my efforts she was just too weak and I feel like the years of being morbidly obese finally took a toll on her health.

Hold your spikey babies extra close. I feel absolutely guilty that I didn’t spend extra time with her due to being sick. She was a one of a kind hedgie who I hoped to have more time with.

Rest in peace Patricia, I’m so blessed to have met you 🫶🏻🦔🌈

Hey everyone, I regretfully have to inform you that orders are currently on hold and will be delayed! I planned to get orders that I already purchased labels for packaged on Sunday and shipped Monday. Saturday morning I had a sore throat which then turned into high fevers, vomiting, and very high heart rate (I have POTS, so high heart rate is not uncommon but it does make me feel faint). I have been bed ridden and barely able to keep fluids and food down.

This is one of the downsides to being the only person who runs my shop while also being a disabled and immunocompromised individual. I absolutely hate when orders get delayed and I disappoint my customers. With my health always changing I may have to make some changes to my shop…

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your order, please send me a message on Etsy so I know which order you’re referring too! I apologize for the inconsistency our shipping times have been as of late especially when it comes to needing kibble on time 😢

Hey everyone! We are currently dealing with a broken AC as of last night 🫠 it’s literally so hot it’s making my heart condition worse as well as causing me migraines! Orders might be a little delayed while we wait for it to be repaired and the house to cool back down. We put in a work order this morning but have yet to hear back! Hopefully a company comes out tomorrow to fix it. Currently trying to stay cool while also keeping the animals from overheating. Thankfully the house is only 85 ish degrees instead of the AC breaking when it gets to be 120 outside!

Wanted to share a minor change we’ve made to our mix! But we’ve been using this new method for the past couple of batches with no complaints! We now blend the freeze dried topper mix to allow a more evenly distribution over the kibble pieces which in return makes the kibble bits extra enticing and tasty to the hedgehogs ❤️ the freeze dried toppers are very light in weight compared to the actual kibble resulting in them resting on the sides of the mixer and at the bottom of the batch which would cause first batch bags to not get as much toppers compared to those who got a bottom batch bag!

We wanted to share this process to ensure everyone that they are getting the freeze dried topper mix in their bags! It’s just more of a coating now rather than pieces you have to hand crush 🥰❤️

What a hectic 3 weeks it has been but we are happy to announce we are back on track with all of our orders! We got the staples out of our head last week then got a terrible cold that we finally beat ❤ All "shipped" orders will be picked up tomorrow by USPS then we plan to finish the rest of our pending orders this weekend to ship on monday!

A fresh batch of kibble mix has been made today and a new batch of our monthly surprise scent whipped soap will be made tomorrow!

This sweet boy was just picked up today, his past owners unfortunately had to return him due to no fault of his own! Life happens and we’re always here to support our babies and adopters ❤️ Yokai is about 6 months old and was born here at PKRS (need to check DOB when I’m home) he will have a WAIVED ADOPTION FEE, but you must purchase his supplies as he comes with a fully loaded care set up! (Seriously, this little man has it all and was very loved!!) He must go to an experienced owner or an adult! Yokai is a very sweet boy but based on our conversations with his previous owners, he can be mouthy and want to lick/bite everything to anoint! He doesn’t bite out of aggression, but needs an owner to watch for clues to prevent being bit! Little man just wants to explore everything and spit it on him lol!
