🌟Allowing horses to chew and sniff things when they are curious is good for them because it supports their natural behaviors and cognitive development. Horses are highly sensory animals, and exploring their environment through sniffing and chewing helps them learn about their surroundings!

🌟This type of exploration can also reduce stress and boredom by providing mental stimulation. Chewing and sniffing can be calming for horses, as it mimics the behaviors they would exhibit in the wild, helping them stay emotionally balanced.

🌟Additionally, it gives them the opportunity to engage with their environment, which can improve their overall well-being and foster trust in their handlers!

So, let your horses be curious until they aren’t interested in the thing anymore!

I got an amazing opportunity to ride this 4 year old Lusitano, Al-Adiyat. Owned and trained by Fred Win.

A pirouette in dressage is a highly skilled movement where the horse rotates in place on the hind legs while maintaining a collected canter or trot. The horse makes a tight turn around its inside hind leg, which remains grounded, while the front legs and outside hind leg move around it. The movement requires a great deal of balance, engagement, and precision, as the horse must keep a steady tempo, correct alignment, and proper posture throughout. It is often performed as a part of advanced dressage tests and is a demonstration of both the horse's strength and the rider’s ability to control and guide the movement smoothly.

He is still in training, as he has only had nine months of training. So the pirouette is not perfected yet. But the trust was there with just the first ride, and he did such an amazing job!

I took Cosmo out where all the commotion is at. We’ve only worked in the round pen, and right outside of the round pen. There were combines, people driving by honking their horns, trailers rattling, and semi’s driving by and he was a SAINT!! Cosmo had the summer off due to me working all of my clients in the mornings before the heat kicked in and it was just too hot! We’ve been getting back into the groove with ground work and we’ve started some light riding 🥰. Pictures and videos to come soon!

This sweet boy, Recon, has come so far in his training in the last 3 months it’s incredible! He was an Amish horse who came from an auction. He was terrified of people, would turn his butt towards me on a dime, and would always run from me. Now he comes right up to me in the pasture and puts his head down for the halter. We are walking, trotting, and cantering under saddle already, and doing obstacle courses together! He has such a kind soul and I can’t wait to see where we go together!

Finally got to meet Lisa Hill and her sweet gelding Cash!! The first steps in training are always a meet and greet, establishing trust and a safe environment for the horse. Cash loves attention, so it took no time at all! All he needs is some refinement to make a wonderful riding horse and this boy will be ready for a new home! He will be for sale soon 😉

Rasmus had the surcingle on for the first time today! He’s maturing so wonderfully and he has the best temperament. Super willing and honest. He did not flinch one bit about tightening the girth. It wasn’t as tight as a saddle cinch, but it’s still a strange feeling having something wrapped around their barrel with lots of pressure. Next step is ground driving this little guy! Ps..he just turned two! 🩵🩵🩵

Please excuse my editing 😂…

Rasmus wanted to show everyone what he’s been working on. The sending away exercise which consists of moving his hindquarters and shoulders away from pressure and my body language. This exercise is so helpful in so many ways from trailer loading, sending through water, tarps, bridges, gates, etc. The goal here is to look at me when I change my body language, do a turn on the forehand, then a turn on the haunches and move his shoulder away from light pressure, and send forward. Eventually this will become a dance for him, a movement. We start very slow working our way up increasing energy as we go. This little fella has been such a pleasure to work with!

Ps…this is my first video I’ve edited so it’s just practice. I will continue making more videos, this is just the first!
