Congratulations to all the entry winners of the 2024 Lassen county fair. We loved walking all the exhibit buildings and seeing everyone's creativity.
We would like to highlight our wonderful chickens for their amazing ribbon wins for their eggs.

Our 2 amazing kids each entered 1 dozen eggs in the junior category
🏆1st and Reserve Best in show for medium eggs
🥇First place for small eggs.

Adult entries:
🥇First place for large eggs
🥉3rd place for medium eggs

Next year we hope to show some of our chickens in 4H. This is our 2nd year entering eggs into the fair. We just do it for the fun of it. And it's so exciting to walk around the fair looking for all our entries in the different buildings.
We hope you all have a safe and fun fair week. And stay cool in the heat.

New egg color alert ⚠️

Check out this moss egg.
I wasn't expecting any of my new layers to lay this color.
I am so thrilled as it was a highly desired color that I was missing from my rainbow eggs.
It's just so beautiful.

A light olive egg is on the left and a golden comet egg is on the right.

Thank you Thompson Peak Lavender for this beautiful experience here in our hometown. I am so happy we don't have to travel far to get fresh locally grown lavender. Our lavender bouquets we cut smelled so devine. We plan on using it in our seasonal fruit jams, lavender extract, baking and learning how to make sugar scrubs. If we get enough honey this season I will try out lavender infused honey as well.

🥚 Free Eggs available for livestock 🥚
I have about 20 or 21 eggs that were outside for 3 days in the heat and we can not use them for cooking as we have a rooster. And some were starting to develop small vains.

The eggs range from size tiny-XL double yokers.

Anyone want them all for free for their livestock or dogs please message me. (First to message and make pick up arguments) and then I will go in order to next person if the plans fall through.

My favorite part is egg wash day. After I put aside the missed shaped, overly dirty, extra small eggs for a coup days worth. I spend a few minutes washing them and put them in the fridge for our own use. The water makes the egg colors shin and pop. I just can't get over how pretty they are.

Don't miss the chance to see our award winning farm eggs at this year's Lassen county fair. They will be on display the entire time in the Agriculture building during fair week. In 2023 we started our flock with just 2 laying hens and their eggs won both Best in show for adult entries with medium eggs and 1st place for junior entries with Large eggs. We are ready to do it again this year with 15 adult hens laying various colors and sizes of eggs.

The Lassen County fair is July 17th-21st.

They are here.... these little chicks went on a airplane ride all the way from Ohio to Navada. They were extremely cold on arrival and after a few hours under the heat lamp they are chirping and full of energy. I placed this order back in December. So it has been a long wait. 1 chick will be our 2nd rooster in our flock to help keep the blue egg gene. The rest are pullets. I am looking forward to adding more egg and feather colors to our flock. And offering our customers different breed mixes in the future.

Mama Hen had her 2nd baby hatch early this morning. ( Obviously it was an egg she took from another hen with such wild feather colors) She is taking care of both chicks and is already such a good mama. Now I have to move her and the babies to their own mini coop so my other adult chickens don't harm them.

Mama Hen did it. She had 1 chick hatch last night. I noticed it trying to hatch under her all day yesterday. And with no progress I decided to put the egg in the incubator the chick hatched all by itself a few hrs later. If the other eggs under the hen hatch I will try putting the chick back with its mama hen and siblings.

Such a cutie.

🐥 Update on the Broody Hen. 🐥
I candled all the eggs and she has 10 eggs developing well. I could see movement and a few I could see legs and toes through the shell. All chicks... hoping that they hatch will be olive eggers. I tried moving mama hen with her eggs to a private coop but she had nothing to do with it an left the eggs. So back in the main scalding hot coop she went. She is very determined to sit on these eggs in a 106 degree coop. And very much dislikes the pine shaving under her. I have no idea how many days are left as each egg was laid on different days and some by different hens. She is the sweetest and a very mellow little hen. And she doesn't mind me looking at her clutch of eggs and helping her tuck them all back under her when some slip out. The rooster is also very sweet and friendly. If theses chicks are able to hatch they should have very good temperaments and personalities.

🐥All eggs were tucked back under her after the photo.

Not the best pictures because it was extremely hot outside and these new bee's are not used to us yet. (The more we work with them the nicer they become) Needless to say the top box went on.

2 weeks ago maybe 3 weeks. We had to order a new Nuc from Bitterbrush Farm & Apiary because our hive from last year killed their queen in winter and survived until this May with no queen. We mixed the old hive with the new nuc. We just did our 1st inspection this afternoon and they really went to work fast. This is the fastest I have seen a hive grow. The box is completely full and they tried making room under the frames and in every space they could find. We had to scrape all the extra comb off so they would stop making comb in unwanted places. We saw so many newly hatched bee's and new eggs. We didn't see the queen this time. She is probably working hard and covered by worker bee's. We will check next week to see how they are working in the top box we just added. Maybe we will get some honey harvest this fall.

Update on the broody hen.
She now is laying on 13 eggs. 3 days ago she had 6 eggs. I think another hen is laying eggs on top of her and she is moving them under her. Plus she may still be laying new eggs herself each day. She is determined to be mama at 7 months old. Her body is so tiny I have no idea how she is fitting 13 eggs under her. I will continue to post updates every so often. 18 days left to go on the first eggs.

Are you looking for Quaking Canopy and urban Acres genetics. This little guy is for you.

Registered show buckling DOB 4/5/24

I am having to let go of my complete herd of Goats. And he is looking for a new herd. His mom and sister already left.

He is a big boy and is being weaned on 1 bottle a day and mostly eating grain/alfalfa. He is really playful and friendly. He has to be separated from young doe's as he is already trying to reproduce. He is UTD on hoof trims, and vaccines.

He is very long and has a wide rump. His coloring is chocolate buckskin. Papers in hand already registered. Pictures of granddams and half sisters attached. From Winning show lines.

🟣 (Please do not message me if you don't have a proper place to keep him separated from other baby girl goats, or if you are looking for a house pet or if you have no other goats) goats are herd animals and need goat friends not dogs, chickens, or sheep,or horses.

🟣 Must know basic care for goats and have other goats already. Since I am dispersing my herd I don't have time anymore to offer advice or goat education like I used to offer

We are a clean tested herd on 2/13/24 (have proof)

Susanville, CA but can meet in Reno, NV. Or Redding, CA.

We have our first ever broody mama hen.
This lavender easter egger hen who I hatched in November lays a dark blue egg. The last 2 weeks I have been taking her eggs from under her thinking that would stop her. But today I decided to leave the eggs and add more eggs under her. We will see how long she lays on them. As she gets closer to 21 days I will move her to her own private area to hatch babies safely.

I feel I waited long enough to make this announcement. It just was hard to make this post from all the tears.
I am very sad and heartbroken that we have to sale all are goats. This was a very difficult decision and there where many factors that went Into making this decision. A few being, I am almost done with RN school pre-requisites, and simply my children lost interest in helping with the goats. It was very difficult to find help to care for the goats when we needed to stay overnight somewhere with more health appointments being out of town. I was lucky enough to find a private buyer to come and take most of the goats last week so they will be living together. I currently have a few pet quality goats that are still available. Along with a very fancy metal milkstand , castrator with bands, and a brand new tattoo tool with letters and numbers still in the box. I have various goat vitamins and medications available as well.

We loved our goats so much that their care and health came first before my family and house chores. (Another reason we had to say goodbye). I had a special bond with a couple of the doe's. And it just breaks my heart that I will never see them again. Yes I can aways get more goats in the future when time allows. But they wont be these goats that we had. I know they went to a good home and a few will be with their full sisters once again.

We are so lucky to have had animals that shared there life with us for a small amount of time. And let us witness them welcome babies this spring. I hope one day we will be fortunate enough to have goats again. So this is just temporary. For now we will still be offering hatching eggs, and baby chicks, along with are weekly fresh farm eggs.

The baby goat total this season
3 angel babies (2 boys, 1 girl)
3 girls
5 boys
Total: 11

Dam in milk available as well. Currently papered but letting go as pet because she is not able to be milked. I have tried multiple times to milk her and even tied up her legs. She gets to stressed and doesn't let down milk. She can be kinda hesitant with people and Run. But she is easy to catch. And since she had her babies she is letting me pet her more and stands next to me. She is a Excellent mom. Delivering her triplets unassisted. And good production feeding all 3 babies. If your looking for production in offspring this is the doe for you. She has high and tight fore udders during a 12hr fill. Maybe you can work with her more on the milk stand as well.

Can do a package on mom and all 3 babies.

Summer's Buckling is pending.

Summer became a first time mama this evening on Mother's Day. Kidding 2 buck twins. Her due date wasn't until the 19th an entire week away. So I was not expecting early babies. And was not on baby watch. Unfortunately both babies got trapped in between a wall during delivery (still trying to comprehend how that happend). I almost had to cut the wall apart to get them out. 1 baby didn't make it. I believe I missed the birth by 15mins. Normally I put the goats in the Kidding pin 5 days away from kidding and I thought I had 2 more days to put her in there. The goat house is a warm place from the cold and wind. But I never even imagined a baby goat would get trapped inside a wall. We will definitely be making improvements to the wall and it was a lesson learned.

Summer is doing well and it seemed like it was a easy delivery for her. Her baby is very strong and walking and hoping around already. He even started eating independently.

This little guy is sired by JB Boots and since his mama is a first time mama he will be offered unregistered pet quality or as a weathe when he is old enough.

The other baby boy was a dark buckskin (black with dark brown) with white spotting on the sides.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day today. Mine was just like any other day but I got to spend it visiting my mom and spending time with my kids. And that's all that matters to me when celabrating Mother's Day.
