German shepherd lovers!!!!
We have an absolutely amazing well mannered girl we want you to meet! Meet Mercy who is about 5yr old German shepherd. Mercy was surrender to our shelter unfortunately due to her owners health. Mercy was a very loved girl in her previous home(No negative comments) Mercy’s family was heartbroken having to do this. Mercy is a very amazing dog! Mercy is housebroken, friendly with children and good with other animals. Mercy walks amazing on leash! Mercy is a very amazing girl who needs someone to quickly fall for her and help her find the perfect home!! Mercy has been spayed and is UTD on her shots. Mercy would love to find a home soon. Mercy wants out of the shelter and into a loving home. Help this girl find that she was so loved in her previous home and doesn’t understand what happened. I switch between feeding my dogs kibble and raw. But when I do feed kibble, I do this.

HYDRATION 💦

Hydrating your dog is something so simple but it's actually so overlooked and most people don't think about hydrating when it comes to meal times.

If your dog is eating a kibble diet, they are more prone to dehydration. This is because the dry kibble requires moisture for digestion. When your dog is not adequately hydrated, the body pulls water from the internal organs to digest the kibble and this can lead to the state of mild dehydration. Even if they are drinking throughout the day, the digestion process pulls water from their system after eating.

One of the best and easiest thing you can do as a kibble feeder is HYDRATE YOUR DOGS FOOD!

Adding water to kibble softens it for digestion and hydrates your dog's body systems.

Great options to hydrate kibble include
💧Filtered Water
💧Coconut Water
💧Bone Broth
💧Goat's Milk
💧Decaffeinated Green Tea (aids in cancer prevention)

Quick Tip - you can freeze all of the above in trays or silicone molds and then pop out a cube or two and melt with hot water at meal time!

*Always give your dog access to fresh water at all times

*Always rest your dog after eating any meal. Never exercise your dog immediately after eating due to risk of bloat

It's getting colder! Enjoy the following tips on how to help your dog cope with the cold. Let your dog outside for short durations. They can suffer from frostbite just like us. Consider your dog’s age when letting them outside. Older dogs don’t adapt as well as the younger ones do. But remember, the really young ones, like puppies, also have a hard time adapting. Keep them indoors whenever you can. If it’s too cold for us, it’s too cold for them. Buy your dog a winter jacket. Small and large dogs who have short coats don’t cope with the cold like a husky or malamute. As I tell my husband, if you wear your bibs, Tig (GSP) should wear his winter jacket. During walks, look out for salt and antifreeze. Neither is good for dogs to digest. After a walk or when you let them in from outside, wipe their paws. Especially the area between the toes. Salt and snow can get in there and irritate their paws. Put dog booties on your dog’s paws to protect them. I have even heard of people putting baby socks on their dog’s feet. If you do this, please post a video. Nothing cuter than watching a dog try to walk with boots on for the first time.
