Good afternoon Leelanau County! Today is it, my last day working for Hillside Feed & Supply, LLC. It has been such a pleasure getting to know everyone, watching your children grow, the excitement each spring for chick season. A heartfelt, humble thank you. Although, I will no longer be out here daily, the non-profit isn't leaving, so you will see me, especially in the summer. I have to have my Buchan's salted caramel crack ice cream! Hillside is going to be closing for a short time, and will reopen, please continue to support this great, local business. Have patience for the new smiling faces that will greet you each day as they navigate their learning curve as I navigated mine. I wish Hillside the greatest success in the future.

Sorry for the short notice, Hillside will be BRIEFLY closing after Saturday (11/21/2020). During this time we will be doing some renovations, restocking, and bringing in new fun things. You can also win a $50 gift card if your design is chosen as the winner!! Come on out (virtually, of course) and support our local 4-H'ers! We have 30 Leelanau County 4-H youth taking part in our Online 4-H auction and all of our virtual showmanship classes this coming week.

Want to bid? Go to this link and create a buyer account. Before you start, you can take a look at all of the livestock projects. Just click on the auction with the species you are interested in. The auction will continue until 9 pm on Monday.

We also are offering an "add-on" feature. Don't want to buy an animal? You can still donate a sum of money directly to the youth exhibitor. They will receive this donation with their auction check.

A moment of thanks and gratitude for Brian and Mary Bush. The help in holding down the fort the last two days so that I with my family could hold my Dad's memorial service finally. They are God sends to Hillside, Amy, and myself.

Learn about what things to look for to know if your animal is relaxed or stressed and how you can best work with your animal.

Please join Melissa Elischer, MSU Extension Animal Science Educator, on Tuesday, June 30th, at 7 pm, as she helps us learn more about how to understand and work with animals through observing their body language. You will have the chance to ask questions at the end of the webinar. This session is open to all (adults and youth), and is free. Phewww!! Well, that's a wrap, Chicks 2020 was huge this year! Oh my.... All the chicks went home and the extras all found homes. Thank you everyone for your patience this week. It was a doozie! Have a safe holiday weekend and take a moment and honor those that sacrificed their lives for this great nation.

Quick reminder: We will be closed Monday in honor of Memorial Day, we will see you again Tuesday.
