DOMESTIC ASSAULT LEADS TO A SUCCESFULL K-9 TRACK AND ARREST.

On Friday, June 30, 2023 at approximately 8:30 pm, Leelanau county Deputies were dispatched to the 7900 Block of S. Center Hwy. in Bingham Twp. for a report of a domestic assault that had just occurred.

Upon the deputies arrival, it was determined that an altercation had taken place between a 41 year-old female from Texas and a 43 year-old Bingham Twp. resident. Further investigation revealed that the 43 year old male had assaulted the female and then fled the area before the deputies arrived. The LCSO K-9 deputy and K-9 Klouse were summoned to the scene to begin a track in an attempt to locate the subject. After a short track just south of the residence, the suspect was located by the K-9 and handler and eventually taken into custody without incident. Upon arresting the subject, it was learned that the 43 year-old male also had an outstanding drug related felony warrant out of the State of Texas.

The male subject was lodged in the Leelanau County jail where he was processed for the Domestic Assault / Resisting and Obstructing along with an additional Fugitive from Justice charge relating to the warrant. A report has been forwarded to the Leelanau County Prosecutor for review.
