According to Stanley Coren (dog trainer and experimental psychologist) dogs have three types of intelligence:

1. Adaptive intelligence: learning ability in problem-solving.

2. Working or obedience intelligence: ability to respond appropriately to various commands.

3. Instinctive intelligence: genetically determined, abilities and behavioral pretty positions that allow your dog to do a particular job well.

A well rounded intelligent dog has a good balance between this three types of intelligence !
