Escalators
Bailey taking turns with her family on the stairs, elevators, and escalators at Jordan Creek.
Taking a service dog in your family literally is at some level a whole family experience.
Making sure everyone is on the same page and understand the importance of certain behaviors is necessary for success.
Bailey
Bailey has been in training with us at Adelhorst as service dog for this young man.
I am blessed and grateful for this opportunity.
Bailey did an awesome job today during the transition.

Coco loves to train!
We are out training now before bed.
I find myself falling in love with this girl more and more.
Coco has gone from not wanting to be engaged with to barking at me wanting to be the next one I get out to spend time with.
This is what obedience training does! Builds relationships between human and k9.
Make each time you get you dog or puppy out to team be a fun 10-15min. Filled with encouragement.
Your corrections should be left behind
Your cheerleading and encouragement should leave them wanting more time with you.

Zelda has been in our board and train at Adelhorst.
Today we went downtown and did some walking around all the distractions. It’s familiar ground for Zelda. She and her mom spend quite a bit of time downtown running.
Still, the familiar Surroundings did not hold us back from finding a few things to perfect
Layla stayed with us at Adelhorst while Jess and her family went on vacation ♥️
Advanced Class
Somebody once told me a weekday morning class will never fly. People won’t come!
I am so pleased to see the success or Thursday morning classes have been.
This advanced class makes me burst with pride. Not for myself, but for them!
During class, I encouraged each student to mingle about the room and test out different commands and skills they had learned.

Gunner
An evening at Grayslake with Gunner is the perfect way to relax on this Friday night
Gunner is in our 2 Wk Board And Train program
After a hot day, it seemed fitting to take him to Grayslake and test out our training.
It is important to set your foundation in a quiet spot with no distractions and gradually grow it into working for you out in public areas.

The sit stay
For those of you that missed Monday nights week two class, study this video and do the best you can at teaching your dog that sit stay before next weeks class.
Every new command we teach at this level, we teach from the heel position
Put your dog seated on your left hand side.
Hold your right hand, flat, moving towards your dogs direction, tell them to stay.
Don’t be in a hurry to move.
You may even need to repeat it one more time.
As you ready to correct your dog and reposition back into a sit.
Gradually moved towards the end of your leash.
If Dog gets up, be sure to return reposition dog in the same spot as you left it.
Remind the dog to stay with a verbal and hand signal. Slowly move around the back of the dog and up into heel position.
Pause your dog and celebrate the success
I will see you next week ready to learn more. 😆
Ball distractions
This afternoon for Haddie and Bentley’s group lesson, I chose to work on the sit stay with the distraction of bouncing balls.
Bentley absolutely loves to play ball. So this was an excellent workout for him focusing on the word no during a sit stay
Saying the word no one prior to throwing the ball,
gave him a forewarning on the reminding factor that I expected him to stay in the position
Haddie added a nice distraction for Bentley to ignore while in a sit stay also.
Both Bentley and Haddie are in our Board And Train program at Adelhorst Kennels.

What happens when you call your dog or puppy while being distracted?
Whatch Cooper leave the attention he’s receiving from Michael to respond happily to my call.
Things to notice
~ my voice was energetic
