11/15/2024

This Friday, November 15th at 2:30pm - 5:00pm there will be a Hurricane Helene Clean-up Workday at The Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park!
We will be cutting and clearing down trees from the storm and preparing the park for the winter. Please bring chainsaws and PPE if you have them and are experienced (safety first!). Other tools, gloves, water and snacks will be provided. If you anticipate that you will be attending, please sign our liability waiver below. There will also be paper copies on Friday.

Thank you to all of those who are dedicated to urban food forests and want to come help us in advance! This would not be possible without all of you!
This event is in partnership with the City of Asheville Sustainability Department.

Still in awe of the strength of these herbs, they've been through a hurricane and a couple of freezing nights with just a flimsy piece of fabric protecting them. We harvested the nettle yesterday, our last harvest before winter. There's still SO much cleanup to do on the land, and so much pain balm I have to remake, but I'm so grateful for this work. Even in exhaustion I know this is where I'm meant to be, Collaboration and Mutual Care is what sustains us.
Thank you, I love y'all!🤟🏽🧑🏽‍🌾❤️‍🔥

There is so much beautiful, locally-grown produce at the Share Market. On any given week, there may be local vegetables, fruit, eggs, herbs, and even flowers! Bring a bag to fill with the summer abundance.

For years, we have been making bouquets for our Shabbat table, and for events. This summer, we’re bringing bouquets to market. Our bouquets often feature a mixture of cultivated flowers, weeds, and wild plants. This week’s bouquets will include hydrangea, goldenrod, sunflowers, burdock, pokeweed, and queen anne’s lace.

The market is held on Tuesdays 3:00-4:30pm at , 26 Joe Jenkins Road, Fairview NC. Everything is free.

Image description: Flower bouquets are densely packed into buckets. Yellow dill flowers and goldenrod, white queen anne’s lace, and three varieties of sunflowers make for a vibrant collection of colors.

Hope is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

This poem has always been dear to my heart and is the sentiment I want to carry with me throughout my life. Even when things get to be too much, I can always return to the land; and take a lesson from the birds. Being here reminds me why I'm doing this work, and who & what I'm doing it for❣️

🌼Here's to hoping for a better tomorrow🌼
