I began my new career while training my beloved Gibbs. Gibbs and I were being trained by Paws 4 People to be an ADI certified Therapeutic Facility dog to work with PTSD and Wounded Warriors. Working and training Gibbs became a passion and led me t
o my new journey. Gibbs and I realized are dream and began working with Wounded Warriors and Veterans. Seeing what good training could do for a rescue dog like Gibbs, sparked a desire to help Shelter dogs find their forever home. I began Volunteering at the local Animal Shelter training dogs to do better at the adoption events. With that passion I went back to college to be certified as a Professional Dog Handler, Certified Professional Dog Trainer with Animal Behavioral College and AKC Evaluator. The main reason for volunteering as a trainer at the Shelter was to help dogs to gain skills to make them more adoptable. Untrained, unruly dogs with behavioral problems are the main reason dogs end up at shelters and eventually get euthanized. I was hoping to help to save lives four paws at a time. Even though I’m professionally training dogs now, I continue to volunteer my training skills to help the shelter dogs. I owe all of that to a dog named Blue, a blue nosed Pitbull. I began training Blue, I wish I could say I was the dog whisper, but truly it was Blue. Blue learned all basic and advance obedience skills. I even started training him service dog skills from Gibbs. After several months Blue was ready for adoption but unfortunately and sadly through a series of events Big Blue had to cross the rainbow bridge to heaven. At first I thought I could never go back to the shelter but I knew to honor Big Blue who helped me to develop my training skills I would continue to save as many dogs as I could. Now every time when a dog gets adopted I say, this one is for you Blue. I use positive training techniques and teach you to train your dog. We will work together to develop the right treatment plan to help you furry child be at their best. A well trained dog is a happy, healthy dog. When I see my clients work with their furry child I know the dog will have a fur-ever home
