A very cool experience when I went to collect the eggs this afternoon...a good sized babydoll ram that is new to the farm (and by new I mean he's been on the property for just over 24 hours) immediately made a beeline for me when I entered the pen...I was a tad nervous, but reached out my hand. He immediately started nuzzling it and let me pet him! Then, after I finished collecting the eggs, the turkeys surrounded me and let me pet them!!! This happens to Derrick, not me, so it was a great feeling to know they are comfortable around me (and vice versa!). Farm life, farmer's wife for the win!

Celebrated Earth Day today with Rooted Together: Earth Clean-up Day! This was Rileigh's biggest "find" on the curbside on Cummings Rd. 3 car floormats....because the side of the road is obviously the right place to dispose of these. 🙄 She was mortified, as was I! Also in the mix was an absurd amount of Dr. McGuillicuddy's menthol schnapps nips.

Fall cover crops are up! Nothing is worse for the soil than bare dirt through the winter. Added a load of leaf compost that was donated by Baker farms on Locust Street in Swansea to add organic matter and microbes to the soil!

Peaches are done, and so am I! Began the canning process around 8:15am and finished at 9:30pm. 4 quarts pie filling (to be thickened before baking), 8 pints in light syrup (1 went to a friend, 1 to the fridge), 4 8 oz jams, and 3 4 oz jams (1 went to the fridge)...plus there are still a dozen in the fridge just to enjoy...although I might not need a peach fix for quite some time!
