                                            We are celebrating Zelda!
Zelda has had quite a medical journey over her 10 years. She’s battled meningitis, diabetes insipidus, and even had one of her hind legs amputated before she turned one. She’s had many emergency stays and specialist visits along the way—but through it all, she’s always loved going to the vet and has handled every treatment like a champ.
Her latest challenge began with loud breathing and snorting. When a CT scan was performed, it revealed a large nasal tumor that was making it difficult for her to breathe. Adenocarcinoma was added to her long list of diagnoses. After hearing wonderful things from other veterinarians and clients, Zelda’s family chose to bring her to see our Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Ware, DVM, ACVR-RO at Bay State Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Services. Together, they decided on a middle-of-the-road treatment plan of three radiation sessions, spaced every other day. Throughout her care, Zelda was lovingly looked after by Dr. Ware, Courtney, and the BSVESS team, who made every visit a positive experience. True to her resilient spirit, Zelda bounced back quickly from radiation and continued to brighten everyone’s day with her sass and charm.
At her follow-up CT scan five months later, the results brought wonderful news—the tumor had shrunk all the way down! While her face may be a little whiter now, Zelda is feeling better than ever, back to bossing everyone around and making her opinions known. Her family is deeply grateful for the excellent care she received and the extra time they’ll get with their beloved girl.
