UPDATE:
After exam and treatment, this mama cats health declined...possibly she suffered a stroke while giving birth..her medical condition declined greatly and the decision was made to let her go peacefully...run free little stray mama cat ❤️

This cat was picked up by animal control today on Brian Ave Somerset. She was in desperate need of medical attention. She was severely dehydrated, loaded w fleas and could not stand. She is being treated at MARI ER . The doctors beleive she may have very recently given birth...we went to the location She was found and searched for her babies, but we could not find them..if you find her babies or hear them crying, please contact us so we can hopefully save them too. In the meantime send positive thought foe mama ❤️

It is w much sadness that we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy Chopper. Sadly the growth in his mouth became to aggressive and grew rapidly, comprising his quality of life.

But please don't be too sad, we can tell you that even though he was here at the shelter for a while, he was loved so much. He had the extra large kennel suite :) w multiple dog beds, the ability to go in and out into our huge, grassy play yard anytime he wanted. He spent days laying in the sun, resting in the air-conditioning when it was too hot out and had a warm cozy bed, in a heated room, on the cold winter nights.

He and his best bud Cody, hung out in the yard, sometimes shared a kennel for a bit and they loved going to their Aunty Sil's house for visits. She always had a tasty snack for them, usually chicken or steak!!

They went for walks, hung out w staff and volunteers, had office time and this was his home ❤️ Chopper's ashes will be home this week and he will be back w his shelter family.

Run free my sweet boy ❤️

✨Kitten Spotlight✨

Say hello to these two girlies, 💚 Miso and Wasabi 🌶️

Miso and Wasabi have been with us for a little while now, and we are very lucky to have almost all of our kittens have pending or completed adoptions, and these girls are looking for one of their very own. Their sister, Bonsai, has been at her new forever home and they are ready for theirs too.

These girls have been a bit of a challenge but are so very worth it. We need a home that understands the complexity of their nature as they are the poster children for the complications of stray cats. Miso and Wasabi tested positive for FIV assumably through their mother but they don't let that wear them down. We would need for them to be the only cats, or in a house with other FIV positive cats. FIV despite popular misconception is only transmitted through bite wounds or from positive pregnant mothers. This unfortunately gives these girls a setback on traditional adoption but doesn't take away from their worth or life span. Most FIV positive cats live long healthy lives.

Miso and Wasabi are timid by nature, and got their names as wee kittens because as soon as you glanced at them their ears shot back in sass-mode, hence Wasabi and Miso (me-so- angry 😡) but that is purely all from good fun and they are coming out of their shell the more love they get. Once you hold them and give them time you can see their walls come down and the purrs slip out, they just like to look tough. They love watching out the window, curling up in the sun and getting the zoomies with their toys.

We know they have the stereotyped unlucky trinity for speedy adoptions.. FIV+ cats, timid cats, and black cats statistically adopt out slower but honestly these girls are worth the effort and we truly love them and can see the potential for them to thrive in the right home. And we really do believe there is a home out there for every soul that enters our doors.

They can be adopted together as they are best friends or separate, but we do ask for no other cats (unless FIV+) no small children- as FIV can flare up from stress and these girls are timid- no fault to children it's just these girls preference, and no dogs please. However cat savvy households with older children can be considered.

Please help us give these girls a miracle, contact us at 508-679-6446.

Adopted ❤️ Miss Emma found a home with a wonderful previous adopter!!!

🌷Miss Emma🌷
Meet Emma, she truly is the sweetest lady cat. Emma came to us as an owner surrender through no one's fault, and she quickly blossomed into a staff favorite. Shes 2 years old, she loves to cuddle and be by your side regardless of what you're doing. She has the most striking green eyes, a poochy belly that flops when she trots, silly little feet that stick out when she stands or sits and itty bitty Tufts on her ears.
Emma was featured on our pet of the month partnership with Somerset Access and despite being camera shy, shy is not normally in her vocabulary. She strives to be your companion through thick and thin.

Emma would be best suited in a home with no rambunctious animals, kittens or active dogs, as she gets stressed by too much activity, though she is still young herself, she appreciates a zen lifestyle. We would consider her with older children who can understand not to overwhelm her but rather be her equal and appreciate her love for gentle chin scratches.
She's a sweet mannered, gentle girl, If ACO Plummer didn't have 3 rambunctious cats at home she'd already be out the door!

Emma would love to spend the day curled up by the window with you, playing with just about anything and being your comrade while you go about your daily business and chores.

Please contact the shelter for an application if you have any interest in this little lady.
