Crate training advice:
Don’t present the crate like it’s a prison. Show the dog the crate and open the door. Don’t shove the dog in the crate. Let him go into the crate on his own. When he’s inside and comfortable, you can close the door. Walk away with good energy and body language. If you affect a sad voice and say things like “Don’t be sad. Mommy and Daddy will be back soon,” your dog is going to think something’s wrong and get anxious.

Our dogs maybe our "fur babies", but let's remember they are dogs first and foremost. They have needs that need to be met for their fulfillment. Providing them with structure is important and letting them know what's acceptable and what's not. Socializing is very important as well. Don't forget to exercise your dog to burn off energy as well as provide mental stimulation. This will help in your dog living a more full and balanced life.

Dogs live in the moment. They have bad and good moments like we do. They don’t get stuck in the bad moments holding grudges. If you are rehabbing your dog or just basic training and they have a bad moment do not worry. Look at it as a learning chance and keep moving forward.

Destructive behavior comes from lack of physical and mental challenges. The pent up energy builds up and has to be released somehow.

Keep in mind that the breed is 'only the suit.' The more purebred a dog is, the more she will exhibit her breed characteristics and instincts. But you should always begin by fulfilling her animal and species instincts through the walk and 'exercise, discipline and affection.' Only then can you address her breed-specific instincts.
