Willow and Tripp could care less about cold weather, or sleeping in on Christmas 🥴🤣
Cash the doodle putting all the pieces together during his last week with me!
He arrived at 16 weeks and was very nervous about the farm animals, the golf cart and anything “new that moved”. We’ve worked a lot on confidence building and manners. I’m loving the engagement he’s giving me in this video- if he’s watching me he’s not reacting to other things.
He is a great pup and is super friendly!

Congratulations you got a puppy- you are now a “dog trainer” whether you like it or not. You’re teaching the puppy everyday whether it’s good behaviors or bad.
You’re teaching them to eat your shoes, pee on your floor, jump on you, bite your kids or yourself, have food aggression and ignore your voice. So now what?
Puppy class- we at Legendary K9 Georgia don’t offer one. It is my personal opinion that the best thing for your puppy after the breeder and until fully vaccinated at 16 weeks is YOU, the handler. Other trainers offer this and there’s nothing wrong with it but I don’t. At 16 weeks you can bring me your pup with its 80% developed brain and we can start Basic Obedience.
I borrowed a 13 week old puppy today to show you what you can do yourself in the meantime. I didn’t know this pup and I spent about 4 hours with her. She is a timid puppy as most are at 13 weeks so she was a great student for demonstration purposes.
Here are my recommendations:
1.) Handfeed meals- get rid of the bowl. Teach that puppy not to bite the hand that feeds them. Use their daily kibble to teach commands. Reward calm behavior. You don’t need a high value treat to accomplish this, use their own Kibble. If there’s anything left, and he’s still hungry, feed it to your puppy in his crate. Leave your puppy alone while it is eating, do not try to touch it all over the place or snatch its food away. Do not free feed (leave food out 24/7 for the dog to access). You’re teaching the puppy that food comes from a bowl, not you. When you’re training your dog you have 3 paychecks- food, entertainment (toys), touch/ affection.
2.) Lure your puppy anywhere you want it to go with kibble. Into the sit and down position, onto objects, into the heel position, into a crate, etc.
3.) Take advantage of the fact that your puppy typically won’t wander too far away from you, to build an off leash bond. Reward your puppy for wanting to be near you. At this age
What happens when you take 2 reactive German Shepherds to town together? Nothing if you train them properly!
One reacts to traffic, the other reacts to dogs.
Great job Sophia and Cooper!

Ramona is a whole new dog when we take her out in public!
She had no reactivity today to new things, no barking, she was focused on her handler and she is doing an amazing job after just five short weeks of training. Great job girl!
Work. Train. Repeat.

What are my favorite activities to do with dogs?
“Freestyle”
It’s a great way to shape behaviors, for the dog to be engaged, dog is thinking and using its brain‼️

The goal of obedience is for you to provide enough mental stimulation to meet your dog’s needs and to create a foundation of calmness in the dog. Obedience can be a “job”, and is a way to boost their confidence and develop a calmer demeanor. When your dog has focus and structure, they no longer feel the need to continue performing “bad” behaviors. Dogs often develop bad behaviors because they have few outlets and then become frustrated.
Ramona Zoomies
Ramona likes to play the “catch me if you can” game.
It will be a challenge to stop this learned behavior and teach a reliable recall but we’re up for it!

Bella the Great Dane After Advanced Obedience Training
I can not stress how important it is for you, as the handler, to keep working your dog after training, and Bellas owner Undestood the assignment!
Look at her go!
She is a Great Dane puppy who’s gone through our Advanced Obedience Course…. But her training doesn’t stop with us! Her owner sent me this today and I am incredibly proud! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Handmade by yours truly‼️
Riggs had some issues with jumping on people, furniture and was a horrible counter surfer. Today was his ultimate test - 2 open doors, food on the counter and the floor and a free pass to the back yard from the open gate on the deck. We had to teach this dog to 1.) settle down and 2.) wait to be released from commands.
Bravo buddy!!!
