This is going to be a long post. But I want people to not give up on that horse that they think is off between the ears. Here is Ciscos story. Back in August a friend referred another friend to me for training on their new horse. After a saddle slipping accident Mother’s Day weekend they had not been able to catch the horse. So I went up and caught the horse brought him in started him in my program. Desensitizing him and started riding the day after riding he was back to ground zero being scared of people and blowing I checked him over and he was sore I recommend getting him vetted. In the mean time I stepped back from riding and did some exercises on the ground. Vet came out palpated (checked for sore spots) on his back and hips shoulder and chest nothing he said let do X-rays to check for kissing spine or broken ribs so we did everything looked great at this point he said well he passes a full vet check the only other thing we can do in ultrasound for soft tissue injury. I agreed and we started at the point I had noticed the soreness and BAM there is was he is covered in all scars tissue at his t5/t6 into where his scapula ties in. So now we are doing rehabilitation instead of training. This is a reminder to everyone pay close attention to your horses before during and after riding this horse would have passed a vet check with no issues if I had not been paying attention to what his body was telling me. Don’t just think oh that horse is crazy or he is just having an attitude we will work him through it I hear this so many time. A horse can’t tell you exactly where they hurt or if they hurt. It is up to you to be vigilant as a trainer owner or what ever your business is with horses. Be patient be kind and listen to your horse. Ps a little back story on Cisco he is a 6yo gaited horse bought from a seller in Kentucky they had owned him a week when the saddle slipping accident happened. Then owners thought they had done something to cause the issue but this is a past injury we will never truly know what happened and we will never know why the problem didn’t show up sooner there is a multitude of opinions and possibility.

Purchased being told he had 90 days of training . But thankfully to Melanie here at wonder horse farms we started from the ground up and learned he definitely hadn’t had 90 days but with her help within a week he had the confidence to get to a lope if you have a horse that’s been standing an needs a refresher or one you just purchased and want a confident horse that has been desensitized I highly recommend contacting Melanie at Wonder horse farm❤️

Labor Day special any 1st time customers will get a riding lesson for $35 and returning customers will get a lesson for $40 starting September 2nd through September 6th appointments can be made for a later date for this price if paid at time of scheduling.

We have openings!!!
We have training and lesson openings available. We would be glad to assist you and your riding partner in anyway. We are accepting all levels of training and sizes (yes we are taking ponies). With over 20 years of experience in riding, training and competing. We deal with anything from loading issues, not standing to mount, desensitizing, ground manners, tune up, or just want a lighter handle. All hay and feed is included. Must provide your own supplements. we feed sentinel brand horse feed. Please feel free to contact me for my info and references. Payment plans available.
