After much consideration, I have decided not to make Christmas treats this year. The cute iced treats take a lot of time, the ingredients have become more expensive, and Christmas dog treats are readily available elsewhere. Are they sugar and salt free? No, but apparently that doesn’t matter to buyers. I hope by giving you advance notice that you won’t be inconvenienced. I know my friend at Belle Mae’s will be making Christmas treats, and I highly recommend her!
I will also discontinue making the pawty cakes. In order to avoid raising prices, I have purchased ingredients in bulk which had to be shipped. I used ingredients that are safer for your furbabies … natural peanut butter, coconut oil, whole wheat flour, coconut flour, tapioca flour, natural applesauce, uncured pork belly, buttermilk, plain yogurt, plain dehydrated potatoes, and natural non-chemical food colors, most of which aren’t readily available locally. Prices and shipping is sky high, and I either have to greatly increase prices or stop making them. Sadly, it seems quality ingredients aren’t as important to buyers as prices, since I know many dog owners purchase birthday treats that contain sugar and salt. Since my move from Paducah I haven’t done as many cakes, and the investment in bulk ingredients, boxes, etc. is too much for a decreasing demand.
I appreciate each and every one of you who has supported Pupmuffins and entrusted me to be a part of your furbaby’s special day. If the economy improves, I can always resume!
