Deep, deep gratitude to those who came out to our Volunteer Saturday at the farm this morning! Seven volunteers and one little farm explorer, we worked on seedling care and pruning perennial herbs. Onions got trimmed, kales were thinned, Zinnia and Statice got sown, and all got watered. We enjoyed aroma of sage, lavender, and oregano as we prune them. I hope those plants will enjoy extra breathing room and sunlight trickling down to their bottom. Everyone got a bundle of dried camomile from last year (Oh, kudos to the apprentices who thought to preserve this precious herb!).

We see people come into the farm with curiosity, desire to be outside and have sunshine, as a family or an individual. Sometime we are quietly moving fingers and next moment struck conversation and have some good laugh. It is beautiful to see this place being cared by those people and the place holding us as we are. That is the one of many forms of "wealth" we are building at this farm.

Last weekend, we were blessed to have dedicated volunteers at our farm!

Friday was with a group from SUNY-ESF students and staff who chose to spend time doing community service during their spring break (group picture below). Despite the cold drizzle, they flew through tasks to protect our vegetables from ground hogs and prepare flower beds around the farm.

Saturday group was great mix of people from various trades: Students from Nottingham high school, one of our advisory board members and her son, a professor, a nurse, and the whole family of our regular CSA customer! We tackled maintenance of raspberry & service berry patch, children's garden, and community compost pile. Our staff unfortunately forgot her camera duty and we missed group photo and action shots from Saturday. What we share here is the "AFTER" shots, fruits of our volunteers' labor. The precious quote of the day was from 6-year-old who has been coming to farm past 3 years: "Mommy, why don't we live habitat like this?" How wonderful to receive love of this place from a young human being!

Big THANK YOU to all who came out last weekend!
Our next volunteer day is Saturday, April 6.
