Two little cuties, one big goal: keep this family together. ❤️🐶

This week, we were able to help a local mom get her two pups vaccinated so they could move with her into her new apartment. Housing rules can be tough, and vaccines are often a required step. When resources are tight, that one expense can become the thing that separates a family.

But not this time.

You could tell right away how much she loves these dogs. Keeping them with her mattered, and it mattered to us too, especially heading into the holidays. Families come in all forms, and when we can remove a barrier and prevent a surrender, that is the work.

If you want to support more moments like this, you can donate at Cusepitcrew.org, or message us if you need help. We are here to keep families intact whenever we can! ❤️

With the holidays fast approaching, we want to spotlight a few pups who would love to spend this season in a forever home.
These five dogs have been waiting longer than others at their shelters and rescues, and honestly… we can’t quite figure out why. They’re wonderful.
If you’re thinking about adopting, consider opening your heart and home to a long-term resident — you might be the person they’ve been waiting for. ❤️🐾

With the holidays fast approaching, we want to remind everyone why pets should never be purchased as presents. Bringing an animal into your home between November and January is not the issue, the real risk comes from being unprepared, uninformed, or gifting a living being to someone who may not be ready for the responsibility.
Here’s what to keep in mind:
* Pets are 10+ year commitments. Many people are not ready for the long-term financial, emotional, and lifestyle responsibilities.
* The holidays are overwhelming for animals. Whether new or not, pets need routine, quiet space, and advocacy from their people — not chaos.
* Impulse pet purchases fuel puppy mills. Ethical breeders do not market pets as holiday gifts. Be cautious of any breeder or rescue pushing the “perfect present.”
* Surrenders spike during and after the holidays. Shelters are already stretched thin financially, physically, and emotionally. Don’t contribute to the strain by making a choice you aren’t ready for.

We’ve included a list of questions to ask yourself before adding a new family member — during the holidays or any time of year📝 Responsible decisions save lives.
If adoption isn’t possible right now, there are so many ways to help your local shelter community.

has an Angel Tree for their animals, you can volunteer, offer temporary foster support, or shop holiday deals for shelter pets in need.

Swipe to the last slide to meet George, Taylor, and Stanley from B&R Bunkhouse, Second Chance Canine Adoption Center, and Humane CNY — three adorable faces still waiting for their forever homes.

Be responsible this holiday season, and choose forever love over momentary cuteness. ❤️🐾

Today, we are highlighting some rescue terminology you may see on our social media or used by other organizations. These words and phrases pop up often in the world of animal rescue, and knowing what they mean helps make sense of the bigger picture. While this list only scratches the surface, these terms are key to understanding why shelters fill up, why some pets need urgent placement, and how rescues work together to give animals a second chance. The more our community knows, the more we can all support lifesaving efforts. When we share these terms, it’s not just vocabulary — it’s a look into the challenges, decisions, and teamwork that happen behind the scenes every day.

Our Story

Our Strategy: 1) Offer free humane education at community centers, schools, and public service agencies.

2) Facilitate political action with a goal of strengthening laws that will protect dogs.

3) Provide other animal welfare services and resources when available.

4) Partner with the Syracuse-based agencies that care for the city’s homeless dogs by offering volunteer and other professional support in an effort to increase pit bull adoptions.
