Cuse Pit Crew

Cuse Pit Crew Don't take PITy. Take action.

At the heart of Cuse Pit Crew is our offering of preventative programs, aimed at reducing the number of pit bull-type dogs that are abused or end up in shelters, while increasing adoptions and responsible pet ownership.

Cuse Pit Crew is (pretty obviously😅) pro-rescue. But if we want real change for animals, we also need to face the root issues fueling shelter overcrowding: irresponsible breeding, puppy mills, and the systems that protect them.
The American Kennel Club may be a household name, but behind the prestige lies a reality that Ashley Tucker from Humane World for Animals put so well: dogs bred under malpractice and mass production end up in our nation’s shelters. Until we shine a light on this cycle, the overcrowding crisis will only deepen.
Change starts with awareness. Know who the breeders are in your state, county, and town. Learn the difference between a reputable breeder and a rescue, so you can help educate the people in your life.
Policy matters, too. The Puppy Protection Act and the Better CARE for Animals Act are steps toward accountability and humane standards. Voting, both locally and federally, ensures that animals receive the protection they deserve. Your voice matters, and so does your pets 🐾

Meet Taz. He’s a loving pup who recently survived an unthinkable act of violence. With permission from Taz’s family, we can share his story: Taz and his owner were both stabbed during a domestic violence incident in DeWitt, NY. While police made an arrest, Taz was left fighting for his life and needed emergency veterinary care to save him.

At Cuse Pit Crew, we believe pets are family—and during times of crisis, they deserve to stay with the people who love them most. That’s why we created our Keep Us Together program, which supports survivors of domestic violence and helps cover emergency veterinary care, pet food, and safe housing options so families don’t have to face the heartbreaking choice of giving up their pets.

💙 Every dollar raised will go directly to help cover Taz’s emergency care and to support other pets in Central New York who find themselves in crisis alongside their families.

If you’d like to donate to help Taz (pictured here) or other pets like him, please give today. Together, we can keep families whole and show survivors that their community stands behind them.

Thank you for helping us bring hope and healing to families when they need it most.

⚠️TW: Discussion of Su***de & Suicidal Ideation
September is Su***de Awareness Month 💚
Behind every rescue and every clinic are people carrying enormous emotional weight. Animal welfare and veterinary professionals give so much of themselves to care for others—yet their own well-being is often overlooked.

This month, let’s honor them by checking in, offering support, and pushing for real change in how we care for the caregivers. Because no one should have to struggle in silence.

We are facing a challenge together. This is a community issue, a neighborly issue, and one that touches both animal lovers and non-animal lovers alike. Shelters are overflowing, and posts like these fill our feeds because the need is so great.
This isn’t about blame or pointing fingers—it’s about recognizing that the solution lies in all of us. Animals are not disposable; they are companions, family, and a privilege to love and care for.
There are so many ways to help:
If you can’t adopt, foster.
If you can’t foster, volunteer.
If you can’t volunteer, donate.
If you can’t donate, share.
Every action makes a difference. Every voice matters. Together, we can create hope, save lives, and show up for our community and for the animals who need us most.

Our Story

Our Strategy: 1) Offer free humane education at community centers, schools, and public service agencies.

2) Facilitate political action with a goal of strengthening laws that will protect dogs.

3) Provide other animal welfare services and resources when available.

4) Partner with the Syracuse-based agencies that care for the city’s homeless dogs by offering volunteer and other professional support in an effort to increase pit bull adoptions.
