Cuse Pit Crew

Cuse Pit Crew Don't take PITy. Take action.

At the heart of Cuse Pit Crew is our offering of preventative programs, aimed at reducing the number of pit bull-type dogs that are abused or end up in shelters, while increasing adoptions and responsible pet ownership.

November is Adopt-A-Senior Month & Cuse Pit Crew is celebrating all the frosted faces out there. Adopting a senior dog means opening your heart to a loyal companion who’s already learned the ropes. They’re calm, loving, and full of gratitude. Senior dogs may have a little gray, but they’ve got plenty of love left to give. 💛

Every dog deserves a soft place to land — no matter their age. 🐾 Give the gift of the golden years & adopt or foster a senior pup!

Food insecurity doesn’t just affect people; it affects their pets. When families are forced to choose between putting food on the table and caring for their animals, everyone suffers.
Across Onondaga County, many local food pantries now provide pet food and supplies to help keep pets with the people who love them most. You can find a list of these pantries in this post, along with other community resources.
Our Keep Us Together (K*T) program continues to work hard, helping families stay together by providing pet food, supplies, and support for those in crisis.
Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every share helps make a difference.
How you can help:
- Donate pet food or supplies to the listed pantries
- Volunteer at your local rescue
- Advocate for stronger policies that connect human and animal welfare
- Donate to programs that aid families in crisis (like K*T)
When families get the support they need, pets get to stay where they belong — home.

Animal shelters do so much more than many people realize — from rescuing strays and providing medical care to supporting families in crisis and reuniting lost pets. Their teams work tirelessly, often with limited resources, to give every animal a second chance. This week (and every week), we’re saying thank you to the shelter staff, volunteers, and fosters who make it possible. You are the heart of animal welfare.

Please comment a shelter volunteer, staff member or foster you’d like to highlight or the shelter/rescue that helped you find your forever pup🐾❤️

Violence against animals is not an isolated issue. It is often the beginning of a much larger cycle of harm.

In light of the recent stabbing of Chance on the morning of October 21, this issue feels even more urgent. What happened to Chance is not a one-off event. Acts of cruelty toward animals are a warning sign of deeper violence within our communities.

When an animal suffers, it is not just one life that’s affected. Studies have shown that households where animals are abused often experience other forms of violence too. Breaking this cycle means recognizing the signs, speaking up, and protecting every member of our community — human and animal alike.

If you see or suspect abuse, report it. Compassion is powerful, and your voice can save lives.

Our Story

Our Strategy: 1) Offer free humane education at community centers, schools, and public service agencies.

2) Facilitate political action with a goal of strengthening laws that will protect dogs.

3) Provide other animal welfare services and resources when available.

4) Partner with the Syracuse-based agencies that care for the city’s homeless dogs by offering volunteer and other professional support in an effort to increase pit bull adoptions.
