Life of Lily Bug

Life of Lily Bug Lily (AKA Lily Bug, Lily Jane, or Lil-dawg) is a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier available for adoption through Lucky Paws Rescue of WA.

Follow along on Life of Lily Bug while she is in foster care, and please share to help her get adopted! Lily first came to Lucky Paws Rescue in February of 2020. She had lost her person, her life-long companion dog, and her home as she had known since she was a four week old puppy. She was shut down and so scared of everyone and everything. Since then, we have learned so much about Lily. Lily has

also learned to trust. Lily needs a very special home with very understanding humans who are truly passionate about the underdog and who see the beauty in caring for and loving the broken and forgotten. Lily has waited a long time for her forever home, but we know it's out there waiting...we just have to find it. Lily is currently in a loving foster home where she is thriving. Please help Lily find her forever home by following this page and sharing it, as well as sharing all of our updates and photos of Lily. Some highlights about Lily:

**Once she settles in, she is always down for a good cuddle session with lots of hugs and kisses!

**Lily loves to go hiking, and she is great at walking on a leash- she consistently stays on the left side of her handler.

**Playing tug of war helps her build confidence--and it's obvious that Lily thinks she is the s**z when she shows that toy who's boss!

**She is very smart and eager to please! As long as good treats are provided, Lily loves training and learning new tricks.

**She likes to be close to her owner and is happy to relax while they watch TV, work on the computer, cook in the kitchen, etc.

**Lily has great manners- she doesn't beg for human food, she doesn't jump on people, and she even knows to wait when she comes inside so that she can have her paws wiped.

**She weighs about 50 pounds

Lily has what is best described as a sensory processing disorder, which can cause her some anxiety. She is scared of loud noises outside (such as the weekly garbage truck), nervous around new people and other dogs, and sometimes nervous inexplicably. Lily has been with us for over a year and a half, which has given her time with a wonderful trainer and some awesome foster parents along the way. All of these people have helped us to learn about Lily. Lily needs someone who can be patient with her quirks and keep helping her to practice focusing. She has come so far since her first day with us--and Lily has so much to offer. Lily has learned the commands sit, stay, shake, down (as in laydown), wait, and out. Learning new things gives Lily confidence. She is also crate-trained and potty-trained. Lily will do best in an adult only home or with adult size children who are dog savvy. Lily can safely live with cats and has hung out with her pet sitter's cat a few times now. Her ideal home would be a quiet and structured. She may benefit from being with a calm, non-reactive dog as well. Support from one of Lily's trainers will be provided to help Lily make a smooth transition into a new home and to help Lily's new family better understand how to help Lily. We absolutely love Lily, and we can't wait to see her settled in her own home with her forever family.
