How did it begin?

My interest in alternative or non traditional treatments for my dogs began back in 1993 when I sought acupuncture treatment for my disabled Labrador, Kaeleb, my first dog as an adult. I have never forgotten the tremendous impact it had on him - how relaxed and soothed he was as a result of his treatment. I have since continued to incorporate acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy and hydrotherapy as integral components of my animal’s medical teams since my experiences with Kaeleb. These treatments have greatly improved my current dogs. Four years ago my boxer had bilalteral TPLO surgeries and spent a year recovering, and my pug has experienced spine and shoulder issues, both have had positive rehabilitative experiences with massage.

Once I discovered that animal massage is a real thing, the rest was history! I enrolled in the Northwest School of Animal Massage (NWSAM) in 2018, and am now nationally board certified in and licensed in the State of Washington for Small Animal Massage. My senior pug and boxer reap the benefits every week and I have seen great effects on them, both physically and emotionally.

I enjoy working with animals in all life stages, yet my passions include working with animals with issues around abuse, neglect or trauma, rescued or recently adopted, senior and geriatric dogs, and dogs recovering from illness or injury. As a school counselor (my day job), I am well aware of how the body holds on to traumatic experiences and how critical healthy nervous systems are to humans. The same holds true for animals!
